"Really?" Beechpaw felt her paws tingle with excitement as she climbed up to sit beside Herringpaw. "You're right!" she gasped. "That's really cool! That's awesome! But we'll have to be careful from now on. Let's stay in the treetops, okay? The water won't reach us up here." She backed up to the base of the branch, then charged straight ahead and jumped. Within seconds, she had cleared the fox-length-long gap between the two trees and was now perched on the limb of a beech. "This way!" she urged Herringpaw.

Seabreeze blinked open his eyes. "Psst, Clifftail," he hissed quietly. "Are you awake?"
