She listened to him. He sure was good looking, but he seemed... she couldn't put her finger on it... frightened? No... not at all...
"Well I am glad you came! I am sure that your horse is glad too" she smiled and shrugged. "I don't own a horse yet, but I am leasing one here at the stable. I am going to go see him now! I think they are having a meet and greet here at the lounge tonight. At least I will know a few of you guys. Do you know anyone here? I just met a girl named Shai a few minutes ago. She is super nice." she realized that she had forgot to berth between each sentence, and so she panted for air.

Halt shrugged. "Abelard doesn't like people and big groups any more than I do. I wonder how he'll respond to the workers trying to care for him. He doesn't let anyone other than myself ride him, he'll throw them off if they try. Hopefully they don't." He said, a hint of a smile breaching his normally cold and unamused expression. "It's nice to see that others are getting interested in horses, and I'm sure you'll be a great rider. You seem compassionate... and a horse needs compassion." He told her, knowing that it was true. Horses needed companionship to be good at racing or jumping or anything, just like a person needed companionship to go anywhere in life. "I only know Will from outside of the camp, and I suppose now I know you." Halt said, in response to Shelby's last question.

Sam trotted Finny around the edge of the outdoor arena, asking every now and then for the gelding to give to the bit. With the slightest touch Finnegan dropped his head and slightly tucked it, moving out like a complete hunter. After a few minutes of warm up Sam gave Finn a slightly squeeze and the horse moved himself into a slow, rhythmic canter. It was beautiful to watch as Samantha sat the canter perfectly, her body barely moving at all. She made it seem effortless, and to Sam it was just that. After a few laps around she pulled the big chestnut back to a walk and let her reins fall. She wrapped her arms around his muscular neck and buried her face in his mane.
