history | Portia grew up in Louisiana, with her mom, dad and two sisters. She was a cheerleader in high school but when she got to college she wanted to try something new, so she started riding. Portia has been riding for about a year, and when she heard about this barn she wanted to move here to better herself.

history | Gavin relized that there were a ton of girls that rode horses, so he decided to switch his sport when he was 12. He actually found out that he was good and moved up to large horses when he was 14. He fell in love with a shire x tb cross, but tragically he had to be put down when Gavin was 16. As a replacement, he bought Walt and they’ve been partners ever since.

I had finished grooming raven, even brushing his mane and tail and making sure he was glossy clean. I pushed the grooming tote to the side, kneeling down and giving Jackson a pat on his head. I stood and walked to the tack room, finding my section in the room. There were three saddles, each one having a different coloured cover. I thought for a moment, thinking of what to practice. "I guess I'll just use my all purpose saddle." I sighed lightly and took the saddle with a navy cover. I held it like I always did, resting the pommel over my hip, holding it by the panel. I took the black all-purpose bridle, putting it over my shoulder. I brought the tack out to the cross-ties and put the saddle on the saddle rack, hanging the bridle on the hook beside it. I went back to the tack room and got raven's accessories. I grabbed his navy saddle pad, matching fly vail, black breast collar, bell boots, and all-purpose boots. I returned to the cross-ties and set the extra items down. I began tacking up Raven, be sure everything was placed perfectly.

Portia grabbed her last bag from her parents car and placed it on the ground. She smiled out her parents, even though she was sad that she was leaving, she was excited for the opportunity of riding at Autumn Creek. She gave her mom and dad a hug, said her goodbyes and then walked off to find her room. She pulled the acceptance letter out of her pocket and reread it, making sure she was going to the right room. She walked until she found dorm number six, and she pushed open the door. She placed her stuff on an empty bed and wondered where her roommate was. Portia was ready to get to know her roommate and meet new people.

Gavin shut the engine off his Dodge Ram and pulled the key out of the ignition. He rolled his eyes as he felt the trailer shake, his large gelding was agitated after the long car ride. He grabbed the lead rope out of the bed of his truck and opened up the back end of the trailer. He then walked around to the front of the trailer and opened the door. A smile came on his face when he opened up the door to the large snout of the 17.2 hh gelding. "Hey bud," he cooed as he clipped the lead rope onto his leather halter and then he backed him out of the trailer. The huge gelding pricked his ears as he was looking around at his new surroundings. Gavin lead the massive horse toward the barn, figuring he would see someone that could tell him where to go. Once he got to the barn, he looked around to see if he could find someone. "Hello?" he called, seeing if someone would answer.

Shelby waved goodbye to Shai, and stared walking to where the dorms were. As she went into the building, she gasped. Wow. This place was awesome. A whole lounge room! She made here way around, looking for anything that pointed out where dorm 5 was. Finally, she saw a door with letters of gold saying "DORM 5" Yes. She opened up the door, and literally fainted. They where amazing! She dropped her bags, ran, and flung herself onto the bed. "A feather bed!!" she thought out loud and squealed. She knew it was going to be fancy, but not THIS fancy!
She would have just curled up and gone to sleep, but she knew she had to go and meet this amazing horse of hers, so she grabbed her bags, propped them up against the bed, ran out of the dorm. It took her a while, but finally she found the door she came in through, where she stopped. She looked around. Their seemed to be more people than their had been when she was out here a few minutes ago. Or maybe she was just like... half couscous, because this place seemed bigger than before too! She stood their to take it all in, and then closed her eyes, breathing the fresh air.

She must have had her eyes closed for a while, because when she opened them, a guy was standing their, waiting for her to move so he could get in. She immediately flushed as pink as a cherry. "Oh my... Sorry." she said, and moved out of the way.

Halt shook his head at the girl who had just apologized. "It's alright, I was just going in to check out my dorm again. You're not in my way." He said, waving his hand as if to dismiss the matter. He then realized she probably wanted a bit more recognition than that, most people liked to get to know someone they'd be staying at 'school' with. "I'm Halt, by the way. Halt O'Carrick. What's your name?" He asked, his voice quiet but still loud enough to be heard over the people who were talking around them. There seemed to be a lot of people here, but definitely not as many as at a normal school. This many people would make up one class at the school he went to, Halt realized. That was a plus, though... he hated being places with a lot of people. Hopefully this would be more pleasant, as there were fewer people to bother with and a lot of them didn't know him or know he was popular. Randomly, the thought crossed his mind that he should wonder how Will was doing, seeing as that was the one person he knew well at this camp, but he realized that the boy could probably get by on his own, what with his absurdly annoying socialness. He'd fit in well with all these people who seemed to like talking to others.

Halt reached his hand out in return and shook Shelby's, making a slight point not to linger on the shake. As he retracted his hand, he nodded. "People seem to be that way at camps like this. I haven't run into anyone unfriendly. And yes, it's my first day. I honestly wasn't too interested in coming, but it's an escape. I miss my horse, though." Wow. That might have been the most he'd talked all summer. Well, maybe not all summer, but it was more than he usually talked to people he didn't know.
