The smell of battle was in the air- she could feel it. But with only one pokemon, let alone one that had a type disadvantage, there was little hope of her defeating the gym. Well, if she had been an ordinary trainer. This trainer went by the name Charmaine, though she had many, many nicknames. "Come on Jill, we're going." That was her partner, who clumsily made her way down the pokemon center's steps. "To the gym we go!"

Jasper normally didn't feel like battling. But since he'd labeled himself a Pokémon trainer, he'd made so little progress that he felt like he owed himself something. A lot of things, actually. He knew that things weren't too different for his two friends, but for the time being his thoughts were on himself. He decided to take to training his only Pokémon, Neo. Sighing, Jasper adjusted one of his hair clips before he got up and made haste to Route 4, where he would hopefully gain some levels.

"Should we call that a success, Tant?" A voice echoed slightly in the forest, Cordelia, a recently official pokemon trainer. And of course, she had her trusty pokemon with her - Tant, her starter, a Fennekin. The duo were currently in Santalune Forest - just before they entered Santalune City, and they had just finished beating a wild Pikachu, not that it was hard for the two of them. Tant only stared up at his trainer, before he turned and continued his way, into the city, with Cordelia catching up - she had been thinking of adding another member to her team, but she decided not to...yet.

[ mrr, I'm wondering when these three should meet. Jasper's planning on gaining some levels first. and I'm working on his personality some more. ]

At Route 4, Jasper was a little surprised by the strength behind his foes. But that was only problematic to him at the start; he managed to easily beat the Ralts in front of him, with Neo's help of course. Not that Ralts were hard to beat anyway. Jasper had planned on catching one, but he only wanted to do so when he was finished with the first gym. Instead, he continued walking in the tall grass, occasionally encountering Ledyba and Combee, both of which were easy to beat. After some grinding, he'd gotten progress, and Neo leveled up twice. "Great job, Neo." Jasper praised his Froakie gently. "How about we tackle that gym now? Sound good?" That was one thing about him: he loved talking to his Pokémon.
