Two dogs and a cat...I love them to death but they drive me crazeh sometimes.
Try having 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits, 6 rats, 1 hamster, 1 turtle, 1 axolotl, and 6 fish and ALL of them are your responsibility 100% lol xD That's my life! But I wouldn't trade them for the world!
And thanks Cardinal. We pay $60ish for a bag if Wolf's food and $20 for a bag of Kiba's (I can't remember how much cans are...$3 for Kiba and $5 for Wolf?). One bag lasts Kiba a little over a month and one bag lasts Wolf 3ish weeks. One can lasts about 1-2 weeks each. So we spend...nearly $100 on them a month O.o
O.o' Wow...no offense but that would be a little too much for me lol.

She can hardly sit still! She is working on her obedience but she only knows how to sit. Thats how I got that picture because she managed to hold the command for a little bit. lol. I'm hoping that when I get her spayed she will calm a touch.
When are you getting her spayed? It's not recommended to spay before 18 months. Especially in large breeds.
Theres a bit of contoversy over spaying age.. later is better for growth but before the first heat decreases the risk of cancer by quite a bit

Hmm I didn't know that. But is cancer common in Aussies? I mean like Labradors like Latte are very common to cancer but Australian Sheps?

Cardinal, how much red meat does a dog need on raw per week? I've been thinking about trying to get Chewie back on raw once we move, and raising up a flock of meat birds for him to eat, maybe even some meat turkeys, rabbits, that sort of thing.
I just don't know if my family will want to raise up a steer for meat. (We are talking about it for ourselves, and I could probably have them add another in for dog food, but that would take awhile to get them to butchering size and everything.)
(For the record, I will not be terribly involved in the care of the meat animals. I bond with animals too easily. Hence my show goat who I will be buying from my parents afterwards so he doesn't go for meat. Then we would have them processed at a plant, not ourselves. Except maybe the chickens if my grandmother wants to show us how)
The area we are moving to has a lot more opportunities for getting free/cheap meat as well. I can probably start getting my brother to go deer hunting and get the dogs some meat from him. (He loves hunting, I'd just have to pay him some to let him give me the meat lol)

I not sure about aussies.. maybe google and see? My vet recommends early spaying except in large breeds (great danes, mastiffs, st bernards, etc)

@WarriorCat, she's talking about ovarian cancer, not the kind of cancer that is more specific to breeds. I still feel later altering is better from what I've seen. Vets all usually say early spays and neuters, but they just want your money and to decrease any chance of litters. You HAVE to be able to keep your dog from breeding though.

Fuzzy, I did maths.
Excluding the canned if you sourced raw for 1.37 per lb you'd pay the exact same price you're paying to feed the dogs blue buffalo.
Including the canned (saying a can lasts 2 weeks) you have a wiggle room of sourcing 1.60 per lb of raw. This is with Wolf eating a solid 2lbs a day and kiba eating 3oz a day.
Your margins are a LOT better than my 55 cents! I estimated upwards as well and calculated if Wolf was 80lbs and Kiba was 5lbs.

We decided to get Lyra spayed 3 months after her first season.
She'll be over a year by the time she's had it and is ready to be spayed. I would have waited for her to be around the 18 months mark, had I been living in my own house, but it isn't that practical for us.
