I rush onto the great hall, my sister on my heels, we are both breathing hard. We were late... As usual! I look around the hall and see that everyone is staring at us. "Umm Hi!" I stammer out glancing around at all the pairs ofeyes staring at me and my sister. I usher her towards a nearby space near the back and we sit down. We end up next to a boy and a girl who were looking at the two instructors at the front of the a hall. "You don't mind if we sit here do you?!" I whisper to the girl

We rush in late, Jack's stupid old car had broken down! I had told him that morning that it hadn't sounded too good when he had started it up. Oh well, we were here now! I notice that quite a few people had turned to stare at us when we barged in, I feel nervous under all their eyes. Luckily, Jack's not like me in that respect and he ushered me into a spare seat, next a girl and a boy who had obviously only just stopped talking... Awkward!

{Not much has happened. Most people have put their horses away in their stalls. All pupils have been called to the great hall for a beginning of term assembly. Your people should be there or on their way there. Finn, who is head instructor,is about to speak. Shakira and Embry are together I believe, Heidi and Lewis are sat together, Kiara, Ty, Jack and Kara are sat together and I cant remember who else. Ash, the second instructor, is with Finn.}

The great hall was huge. Since I didn't have any friends yet I struggled to find people to sit with. I saw a group of people(Kiara, Ty, Jack and Kara) and decided they were probably nice if it was a group of four. I sit by them and just decide to be quiet until they ask me something.

"Jack! Hi!" I nod at them "And this is my little sister Kiara!" I look up quickly, if a little guiltily, as the guy on the podium begins to speak.

Ashton Kerry Stackow

Catching Finn's wink and taking the opportunity to step up to the microphone, she adjusted it down to match her height. Inhaling a deep breath, Ashton scanned the crowd of faces then began to speak. "Hello everyone, my name is Ashton Stackow, and as my fellow instructor already said," she started, gesturing over to Finn, "I am another of the trainers, however, this is only my first year teaching." She couldn't help but clear her throat before continuing. "Anywho, the rules around the barn are pretty basic common sense. No riding after 10:30, make that 9:00 in the winter, so try to ride in your set riding time periods. Also, education is an important part of your career at this school, so lapses in academics will not go unnoticed around the stables. We might be riding teachers, but we're teachers all the same." Ash took a slight break, letting her words resonate around the room while thinking of anything else to add. Only one final remark came to mind. "I may be new to the team, but I'm sure that you're all aware that this school is among the best anywhere, and as such, I think I speak for every staff member when I say, don't expect this to be a walk in the park. Riding at a professional level is extremely difficult, and getting a proper education along with it is even harder. Therefore, those who don't give their best effort will not receive this school's best treatment. Welcome to the school." Knowing that her curt ending should at least give the students a bit of a scare, she stepped from the podium with a genuinely excited beam, then returned to the spot that she had resided in just a few minutes ago. Ash was a bit nervous about speaking so coldly in a first introduction, but when she was in school, the teachers that took no slip-ups were always the ones that she admired and respected the most. Still, she couldn't help but have the sinking feeling in the back of her head that she had been too harsh.

Kara slowly began to clap."Wow, this is so exciting." She had always tried to be composed but she couldn't help letting her true feelings slide slightly.

Finn was slightly taken aback with Ash's ending. Who knew such a small woman could have such a dangerous tone. "Remind me never to mess with you!"He laughed as she stood next to each other. "We need to hand these out now." Taking hold of the time tables, he began handing them out to the left side of the room. "Hello, yes, nice to meet you! ... Ah, yes, dorm a is on the left... No, I'm afraid we don't.. Hello there!... Here you go ladies.. Remember to go to your dorms and get unpacked!"He paused between groups of people until he reached the back of the room. Pupils started queuing to get out the great hall. Finn checked his watch. It read 3:10pm. He considered asking Ash out on a trail ride, but wondered if his instructor duties came first. It was going to be a hard few years, balancing everything out.
