Oh, whoa. Thank you for being so welcoming! My Dae takes the forms of: a black appy horse, a pigeon, a mourning dove, a Persian cat, and a timber wolf. I am pretty unsettled, but for now she seems to be staying in snowy owl form. I came about Daemonism when I started reading the Golden Compass books, but somehow I always knew. And then my beautiful owl daemon was released from my heart and into the world <3. I really hope we settle on the snowy owl form, I really like it when she is in that form, and so does she.

Edit: We found a name! It is... Lleuad Aur (It means Gold Moon in Welsh). I'm really excited. Lea for short.

Welcome FiFuzz! I like the name (don't worry if it changes, took us forever to settle on the name Dael).

As far as forgetting...well, I haven't been projecting Dael as much as usual in the past week or two, and I think it just comes down to practice. Just remember to keep projecting and talking to her, and eventually it'll become second nature. I've never heard of someone being mean to their dæ before, and most don't argue too much, so I don't think you have to worry about the second part.

Oh, and I just got an infinity scarf recently, and he likes to take a small form and sit in the folds.
Its so comfy and convenient for her to carry me around

I'm Nix (*Snape voice* obviously) and this is my Daemon, Dominix.

I've known Dom for a little over five years now so I've been around a while. Don't worry about 'forgetting' because you won't ever truly forget her. Sometimes you just move onto other things and you don't talk or project as much and that is absolutely okay! Dom and I drifted in and out of phases for the whole five years and it's not that you're being 'mean' to them, other things just catch your attention and it's perfectly okay. Dom want's to say a few words so I'll hand it over to him.

First of all, hello again to both of you. I wanted to let you know, from a Daemon's perspective, not to worry about forgetting. We always know you'll come back to us and we're happy to wait, and you can't forget that we're always here regardless of whether our people talk to us or not and I personally don't mind at all. You get to this one stage after a while where us Daemons, whether or not our human has temporarily 'forgotten' can throw in a word or some advice when we want to, and that's all we really need. It's not mean, I know my girl doesn't drift off on purpose and I know I'll always be here. It's better when you don't try and force it, you just let it happen as is good for you.

Yeah, what he said. So to sign off on this little mini novel, I remember when I was new to the Daemon scene there were a lot of things I did or thought I had to do that I no longer feel the need for. I used to think I had to project and talk all the time whereas now I know it's okay not to all the time.

Your daemon is your subconscious given a form, a name, and a voice. It's a mental construct. Forgetting about your daemon won't make that little voice in your subconscious disappear. I took a two year hiatus from daemonism and pretty much all communication between me and Cyrus stopped.

I started up again a bit ago and he wasn't angry. He was glad that we've gotten back in touch and we can pick up where we left off. You won't be a bad person if you forget about your daemon or get into a fight. Sometimes daemonism isn't for everyone and they move on. That's fine. Like you said, you're young. You got plenty of time to experiment with communication and forms. Heck I'm an old lady and I'm back into form finding.

Thank you for the advice, and hello Cyrus and Dominix. Yeah, last week when I started, I thought I had to talk to her all the time. Now, I know that I don't have to. Sometimes I see her perching on a tree branch outside my window, or sleeping with her wing over her beak perched on my bed board.

When I project Tos, he's rarely more than a meter or two away from me. I quickly get uncomfortable when he's far away from me, and for the most part he's either right within my reach or touching me. For instance, right now he's sitting on my lap in his binturong form.

When I project Lea I usually see her perched on my shoulder or standing next to me. Sometimes if i'm in a car though, she runs or flies alongside it. If she needs to be alone, or I do, I project her hunting in my backyard or something like that. She is never too far away.

Dael is almost always right next to me. Occasionally I'll project him flying around outside a window or something, but it gets uncomfortable.

When you project your dae, are they usually in natural or unnatural forms?

Dael is usually a natural, normal animal, but one of our comfort forms (one of the first ones I projected him as actually) is a grey wolf with light blue unnatural markings. Also, yesterday he became a quoll-like animal with long ears and a lion-like tail. Pretty strange, but kinda cute, and small enough to ride on my shoulder.

I may have had a dæmon dream last night! It involved a corporeal German shepherd who I kept calling Tae and I'm fairly certain that it was him.

When you project your daemon, how close to you is he or she?
It really depends on the form he's currently in. If he's a smaller animal, like a cat or rodent, I like him being closer to me. If he's a larger animal, like a dog or deer, I don't mind him getting farther away from. Same goes for most bird forms.
I used to not like him more than five feet away from me because it felt weird, but it doesn't really bother me anymore and I tend to just project him as far from me as I like.

Again, it just depends on what we feel like! One moment he'll be a perfectly natural crow and the next all of the sudden have one completely bright, pink eye and red wingtips. Some days we feel like being completely natural forms, and other days it's more like, "a dragon that has the markings of a super enchi ball python? Sure!"
Some days we mix and match; we rarely stick to projecting one form a day and switch between forms a lot. Today seems to be a mix and match day, I think, as so far I've projected Tae as a black-and-white hooded rat, a harvest mouse, and a crow/phoenix mix (he'll be flying around as a normal crow and all of the sudden burst into flames and acquire goldeny red-brown colors.)

I'm answering this one
Generally I prefer to stay within one or two meters, but I can stray further. I always stay in the same room, though, when lexi is indoors, and I usually fly above her, or perch on her shoulder when we are outside.


Also, guys, we have an announcement that chisagër would like to make!
yes, well, I have found out that we have finally settled! Generally I stay in this form, but I like to run around as a snow leopard sometimes. I tried to shift and found out that I couldn't. I have been trying for a few days, and so lexi and I have decided we must be settled! I am so happy!
Would this mean anything else?
