a nuclear war destroyed earth about a 100 years ago. the rest of the human race were sent into space in different space stations. as the years went by the stations decided to come together and call themselves the ark. due to the limited resources people could only have one child and were given small portions of rations. even the petty crimes were sentenced to death unless you were under eighteen. then you'd be locked in a solitary cell. the plan was to wait a 100 years until going back to earth to check if it was survivable. however, the ark was quickly running out of air causing them to send 100 children prisoners to the ground. only being 97 years nobody knew what the earth looked, smelled, or even what it felt like. the 100 teenagers and kids were sent to earth and as you can imagine it ended in utter chaos. anarchy broke out with only one ending, violence. few leaders stood up and decided there must be rules. for people were killing each other and things weren't how they should be. as the peace grew the teens realized they weren't alone. apparently people had survived the nuclear war and they are called the grounders. the only problem is they are angry that the teens arrived because they see them as a threat. what are these teens suppose to do when the communication link between the ark and them was knocked out by the landing? no way to contact the ark.

as a child ava was always stubborn. she'd even tried to sneak out of her home in the night when she was only ten years old. as she grew older little ava forced her curiousness to lay dormant for it had already gotten her in too much trouble. when ava was thirteen her father was floated due to the fact that he was attempting to kill the chancellor. at the time ava didn't understand why her father was floated. it really broke her apart. thankfully, her best friend, briskol was there to help her through her tough time. the two grew older together and became like brother and sister. at the age of sixteen ava learned the truth of why her father was floated. anger boiled in the little body of hers until she couldn't handle it no longer. ava figured killing the chancellor would be too easy. she wanted him to feel her pain. so she stole a gun from the armory and headed toward the chancellor's quarters where she was sure the chancellor's son would be. briskol caught up with ava and tried to back her down from the plan. however, ava was too stubborn to persuade so he decided to join her. briskol knocked out a guard while ava attempted to murder the chancellor's son. ava had a rolling plan going through her head. she was going to shoot the teenager in the leg and then leave him there to bleed out. however, she was caught before she had a chance to escape the scene.

briskol was born a month after his father was floated due to treason. his mother had the same charges, but since she was pregnant they postponed her floating date. after she gave birth she was immediately floated and kol was given to a family who were unable to have children. kol never knew he was adopted until he was eleven. at first he didn't know what to think, but as the thought set in he began to feel out of place. kol soon became very close with his friend, avalon. they were inseparable. ava taught kol how to be more reckless and he even became more rebellious than ava ever was. when he found out ava was going to kill the chancellor's son he immediately tried to stop her. he should have known better since ava was impossible to negotiate with. instead he knocked out a guard for her as a distraction as she went through with her plan. of course he was put in a solitary cell due to the assault charge, but he didn't want ava to get caught. even though she did..

Colton was born to be a leader. His mother passed away when he was twelve years old and his father just wasn't around much. As a result, he was forced to take responsibility and grow up quickly. However, it helped him become the man he is today. Rather than relax during his free time, he prefers to do whatever he can to help the group. No matter what the task, he's happy to help. Although he keeps himself busy, he's a huge goof and very sarcastic. He loves to have fun and enjoys keeping the group's spirits up. The only set of rules Katherine follows is her own. Being the only child to two loving parents, she got everything she ever wanted. This lead to her entitled and arrogant attitude. As she grew up and her parents couldn't keep up with her demands, she began to get more rebellious. She spent more time with her friends than her family and now doesn't have a good relationship with her parents, considering her friends to be her family. Katherine is narrow-minded and selfish, yet she is fiercely loyal and would do anything for her friends. Her friends are most important to her, so important that she puts them before herself. At a mere five feet and three inches and 103 pounds, Mikayla Jones isn't much to fear at first sight. So who am I? Well the name is Chelsea Kairen and I am 18 years old and obviously a female. I have short dark brown hair which is shorter than in the above picture as I cut it when we got down here as I thought that having longer hair would be a burden out in the wild. I have dark brown eyes and slightly tanned skin, I stand at 5 feet 5 inches tall and I have no clue as to what I weigh. I also have a slightly muscular build. I have a few scars, most notably is the one which cuts across my right eye and curves across the left side of my mouth, ending on the left side of my collar bone. Why have I been imprisoned? Let's just say being involved in a plot to kill someone didn't go down to well, not to mention a few cases of assault, basically nothing too good. But hey that was a few years ago now, maybe I'll have a better chance down here.

Personality wise people have always described me as a bit of a loose cannon, never really that good at following orders unless I think that it will benefit me. I am also very witty and sarcastic, teasing my enemies more often that not, it does often get me into dangerous situations, though I can get myself out of them. I am really quite smart and I studied the Earth before we came down here, the idea of it has always intrigued me so I liked to read about it. I am also very bold and adventurous, loving to discover new things and places! I don't really like most people which makes me appear rather cold but in truth I just don't want to get hurt by anyone, thus I put up a wall between me and them. While I say that I don't like following rules if you can prove to me that you are a leader worth following, a strong leader, then you will have me as a loyal follower. If I show any form of loyalty towards you then you should be aware of how special that makes you, people rarely manage to impress me that much. If you do then I might actually be your friend and I can be quite nice believe it or not!
