the stripes on female bettas are completely normal and do not mean bad things.

if she is still young and not ready to breed she will be striped nose to tail, this is how females tell males to go away and to leave them alone. once she is mature and ready to breed she will develop bars running from her belly to her back(I say it like that because they never touch at the top). when females who are barred are put in a tank with a male they do not like, they develop their baby stripes again to ward him off.

they are not a sign of stress, just age and readiness to breed.

Generally, whenever I add salt, I also do frequent water changes, so i just add enough to treat the new water I put in.

So, one of my cories died a few weeks ago, leaving my female alone. (She is with 4 others right now) but she spawned without another cory. Any idea what was going on?

Sometimes female fish spawn without a male around if they have mature eggs. My convict female did that for a while, and I had a female cherry barb spew a bunch of eggs once without a male.

Also, they may not be eggs, though cory eggs are pretty easily identified- large, somewhat hard, and adhesive. They scatter them on objects. When first laid they're greenish.

Alright. And they are cory cat eggs for sure. Thank you! She is so happy right now!

I've noticed a pretty unusual behaviour in my adult rabbit snails.
When food isn't abundant, one will wander the tank for about
two days, before going in to hiding, which is when the other
comes out to scavenge. But if I put a large amount of algae
wafer in the tank, they will both come out. Strange.

Had quite a scare this morning! I got out of bed and went over to my desk to check on Mochi, the baby betta. I got scared when I saw she had managed to wedge herself under the under-gravel filter! I thought she was dead!! But then she came swimming out to great me c: Silly fish!

I've learned a gallon a ghost shrimp if above 10 gallongs total. But if less than ten gallons, do 1 1/2 gallons per shrimp. To be on the safe side, probably 2.5 gallons.
