It was clear that the stranger wasn't afraid of Leafstar. That didn't bother her; since her mentor, Flamepelt, had been a better fighter than a hunter, he had been able to tell her that that would happen. It would only come to her advantage if it came to a fight... but she had a feeling it never would. Leafstar studied this new she-cat, her gray-green eyes taking in the tortoiseshell patches of her pelt and the dark gold of her eyes. She seemed uncannily familiar; there was just something about her that made Leafstar get a strange pinging feeling in her stomach, like she should be able to know or see something but she just couldn't.
"StoneClan is not a place where you can just go for protection," Leafstar began in a neutral tone, still assessing the she-cat. "It is not only a commitment, but a lifestyle. There is a code that you must abide by. Joining us is not a light decision; letting you in isn't, either. I cannot let you in unless you fully understand what you are getting into." Leafstar glanced at Tigerstep, flicking her ears. "If it is okay by Tigerstep, I think it would be best if you stayed in the medicine den tonight and learned about the Codes. If you would still like to join us tomorrow, then I will conduct a proper ceremony of welcome. However, if you do anything at all to arouse my suspicion or Tigerstep's, you will be immediately and permanently exiled from our territory. I would also like to talk to you in private before you go with him. Understand?"

Lionpaw gladly finished off the mouse; he was pretty much always endlessly hungry, so he would never actually say no to food. However, he forgot all about the mouse as Oddpaw directed his attention to the entrance to camp, where his mother stood confronting Tigerstep and a stranger. From that distance, he couldn't really hear anything; his mother always spoke rather softly. "Whoa," he meowed, staring at the new she-cat. He'd never met a stranger before; usually he knew everyone before he even really talked to them. That was just the clan environment. "I wonder what's happening?" he was tempted to go closer just to find out.
"Is she actually going to join the clan?" he wondered aloud, also silently wondering if his mother would let her join if that was the case. He didn't see why not; a new cat would be supercool! However, he knew that his mom could be a bit of a killjoy sometimes. It'd be risky, she might be dangerous, I wouldn't want her to hurt you or anybody else, blah blah blah... Lionpaw felt he could easily beat the she-cat in battle. She wasn't that much bigger than Fernpaw, and he'd easily bested his sister many times. Besides, he was great at fighting; that was his thing. I'd defend the clan, he thought proudly.
