Shade eyed the hard wood floor, suddenly very glad he didn't have carpet in this part of the apartment. Otherwise, he would have had one hell of a cleanup to do. Already mud was tracked on the shining wood and he was too exhausted to comment on it.
"One of you guys can grab the shower now; I'll go last. I need a coffee, aspirin, and some TV." He grinned, restraining the urge to run a hand through his hair in fear of discovering how gross it was. He felt like a mud hole had swallowed him up, chewed him, and then spit him back out, bedraggled, aching, and filthy.

Van motioned to Fabian. "You can go first Fabe. I don't mind waiting." Her usually snow white hair was tinged with brown and looked more like a light caramel now. She hadn't put it up the night before so the muddy water had soaked into it. Standing in the middle of the room, she looked frail and small, dirty, wide-eyed, and tired.
