User: Wormgod
Name: Phoebe Jones
Age:
Gender: Female
Appearance: Phoebe is 5'5" and a 134 lbs. She's muscular and tanned from long days out in the field. Her shoulder-length hair, a mop of dark brown frizz, is always in a ponytail. Her blue eyes are nearly always squinted, as Phoebe tends to always be frowning. Phoebe wears blue jeans and various plain colored shirts.
War Piece: Phoebe carries Keening, a dagger with a diamond blade and brass hilt. Keening has an eight inch blade and five inch hilt, both which feel impossibly sharp. The dagger has an aura of evil, and those nearby instinctively feel on edge. It's not too hard for a stranger to deduce Keening is a Piece of War.
Blessing: When Keening harms an opponent, even the tiniest scratch, it magnifies the pain tenfold. Unusual enemies (like Sentinels,
plants, things that cannot feel pain, etc.) are not affected, so it acts like any ordinary dagger.
Curse: Kennings Blessing and Curse damage the very soul. That's what causes the intense pain. The user feels it too; holding Keening with the intent to use also damages the user's soul at a slow, steady pace. Short-term effects include paranoia, muscle tension, loss/gain of appetite, headaches, and violent behavior. Long-term effects include , weight changes, chronic mood swings, chronic paranoia, hair loss, sped-up aging similar to smoking tobacco, vision and hearing loss, jaundice, and "withering away".
Withering away is the sudden death of a creature because it lost its soul. Keening takes its users soul bit by bit, and once the soul is gone, the user suddenly decomposes in seconds. If they're lucky, they drop Keening and leave behind a corpse. If not, they turn to dust.
History: Phoebe is the oldest of twelve siblings, nine of which survived. The Jones family is a long line of lettuce and tomato farmers outside Bagh, a town plagued by an unusual amount of wild lynx in the thick forests surrounding it. Due to the cats boldness around man, nearly all of the population is vegetarian to refrain from attracting the scavenging beasts. The Jones family supplies nearly all of the lettuce and tomatoes for cheap. (shameless lore!

Phoebe's father Antonio is the last "true" Jones. Phoebe's cousins, nieces, and nephews are half-Jones. Antonio takes his role well, and raised his family to follow in the Joneses steps. He worked and cooked when Phoebe's mother, Shawna, became pregnant so that she wouldn't strain herself. When The Everlasting came for Phoebe, he hid Keening in a wooden box in the closet and never mentioned it again. He wanted his children to live a happy life. Phoebe's youngest brother, Mark, found Keening during a hide-and-sneak session. Phoebe found him and took the knife away. He resisted, but his hands slipped off the hilt and grabbed the blade instead.
Mark's screaming alerted their parents. That night, when Phoebe was 13, Antonio and Shawna told her of her destiny. From then on Phoebe lost her dream of growing up in Bagh and having a nice life. Now she had to leave as soon as possible for the sake of her family and community. Antonio taught her some basic fighting skills--mostly how to dodge--and sent her out into the world. Phoebe hung around Bagh for a year, doing odd jobs and taking lessons from the local blacksmith/weapon teacher on how to wield a blade, then left Bagh altogether. The Everlasting came for the first time then, and tried to win her trust by giving her a hard but rewarding job--kill some lynx cubs. Phoebe had no problem killing (and subsequently eating) the kittens, because growing up in Bagh taught her that cats are evil and will raid your trash and attack you in the middle of the night. (That happens a lot in Bagh.) But of course, the jobs grew harder and harder; killing new and terrible things. Phoebe went along with most of them, but some were just too much for her, like attacking random travelers on the road.
Personality: Phoebe, on the inside, is a kind jokester who loves hanging around people. Due to her curse, she was forced to be an untrusting, ruthless individual. Phoebe does anything she needs to keep herself alive. She is haunted in the night for her crimes, and both genuine grief and the effects of Keening.
Other: Bleeeeeh I'm terrible at History and Personality form sections.
((Shameless lore included! Hope it's okay. Not sure what the animals in this world are like, so I threw out something plausible.))
