INTRO:
^^ Hullo~! This is the GATE, it is the home of the KOUmori, aka, Koumori C:
Here you can bid for a Koumori to call your own! :]

SPECIES:
Koumori, pronounced Kou-mou-ree (the "ou" pronounced like the o in "yo-yo"). Plural is still Koumori.

SPECIES TRAITS:

1. Large Bat Ears-- To pick up minute sounds. The GATE is pitch-black with only black light for specially adapted plants to live on, so Koumori depend on echolocation for everything.
2. Upturned Mouth-- Makes it easier to keep that wriggling prey inside. Koumori carry live food back to their nests for their kits, so they can learn how to kill prey quickly.
3. Whiskers-- When in close quarters with other Koumori, they use whiskers to communicate and move around instead of their echolocation, this makes the group more silent and less easily found by predators.
4. Mantle of Fur-- For heat insulation.
5. Feathered Wings-- For flight. Skin wings were too loud and attracted predators. In the GATE, every sound is amplified.
6. Prehensile Tail-- For grabbing fruits and branches. It's silken fur is aerodynamic.
7. Stubby Hind Paws-- Koumori rarely use their feet, and instead use their prehensile tails :3
8. Large Front Legs-- For grabbing and poking around bushes.
9. Small, Round Eyes-- They don't reflect light. The GATE's light is all black light, which is harmful to normal eyes. Koumori' eyes are dull to absorb and dissipate it. Small, round eyes in the front of it's head help limit the amount of light going in in the first place, and echolocation is used to "see" 360 degrees around.
10. Fluffy Fur-- Aerodynamic yet also insulated.

BEHAVIOR/DIET:
Koumori are typically very social creatures, they travel in large groups of up to 50. They are known for being a community species, it is often observed that mature mothers will often help inexperienced mothers with their kits.
Dietary-wise, Koumori eat mainly fruit, but will also eat small rodents and insects.

COMPANIONS:
Koumori pair off every summer in a large event where every Koumori goes into flight. The males do tricks in the air to impress females, sometimes a male may even show off his prehensile tail. The female will respond by "singing". The ritual is over when the male brings the female a fruit and the female eats it. The pair will retreat into the trunk of a tree. In winter, a litter of 3-4 kits is born. Winter in the GATE is warm and humid, the perfect environment for fruit. The kits grow until they are 1 year old and then leave the tree to make their own family. Occasionally, a Koumori may stay with the same mate for the rest of their lives, may never have a mate, or develop bonds with another Koumori of the same gender.

LIFESPAN:
Typical lifespan is about 5 years.

COLORS:
Koumori can be of any color and any design. The GATE is pure darkness, so color is not an issue for mating. A neon pink Koumori may mate with a rainbow Koumori for example, no color scheme is unnatural because Koumori cannot see well. Colors are completely random from birth. Although some colors are often a mix of the parents'.

Mimicry Mutation (A Koumori with this mutation will follow another adoptable of different species home, and mimic their design pattern and sometimes a little of their anatomy. This type of Koumori is only given to very special people, usually close friends or people that I think were really nice x3 This mutation is named in honor of birdybird and her Mimics because she suddenly gifted me a Mimic today XD So I gifted her back with a Koumori that mimicked Lend, her Mimic. <3)
