Blizzardsky tilted his head as Opaqueshade spoke. Zombies? What did that mean? He stared down at his paws. If it was given a new term- this "zombie disease" -then it must've been serious, right? He shuffled his paws with uncertainty. "What about Volantstar? I'll talk to her instead," he murmured, gazing at the patrol. Most of the cats in the patrol wouldn't be happy about his return, he figured.

"Hey, buddy. Are you okay?" Daemongeist suddenly called out, ignoring Crimson's taunt and the fur on his tail bristling slightly in fear. Cats did not usually have golden eyes that seemed so...vibrant. It was unnatural. And, furthermore, Daemongeist was scared that it was a Clanmate and he'd been caught. There would certainly be a punishment for aiding a loner like this...stealing herbs, no less.
But none of his Clanmates had golden eyes such as these.
Then, the cat stepped out into view and out from the shadows. And, only then, could Daemongeist see what it was.
It was a cat, or at least it had been. Its pelt was gray with patchy spots where the fur had been torn away and its ears were shredded to almost nonexistance. Its eyes were a bright golden and staring directly at the tom cat and the she-cat on the ground. Its jaw hung slightly askew from its skull and part of the skin had been ripped off, exposing the reddish muscle tissue underneath. Its tongue lolled sideways from the jaw, though the cat seemingly felt no pain. On the side of its neck there was a massive gash where the skin had been torn away, even exposing bone. There was no way someone could survive an injury like that. But the jaws...a cat had done this.
"Wh-what?" Daemongeist breathed, taking a step back and towards Crimson. "What are you...? Crimson--"
The cat, without warning, gave an animal-like snarl and suddenly jerked towards the pair. Without hesitation, Daemongeist shot in front of Crimson to protect her and the cat crashed into him, knocking the both of them over. He hit the ground hard, the spikey grass prickling into his thick pelt. And above him, barely being fended off with his paws, the cat's mangled jaws snapped inches from his face. Daemongeist let out a wild cry and kicked upwards, flinging the cat backwards several feet. It hit and lay there for several moments, unmoving. And, in that time, Daemongeist had gotten up and shot over to the shape, slamming his paws down on its shoulders to hold it down. The cat growled and made unintelligible noises below him. It was not...it wasn't alive.
"F-foxdung." Daemongeist cursed, panting and standing over the cat. "I-I can't believe it. Wha...?"

OOC: anyone open anyway? Did I miss a reply to Thorn or Crowflight either? I might have Timberpaw get attacked or something, is that ok?

"Volantstar is in that patrol." Opaqueshade answered slowly, settling down in the dusty ground, tail curling over her paws. As she glanced over at the black-and-white tom, she sheathed and unsheathed her claws, sinking them into the ground calmly.
"May I ask where you have been? I have seen your pelt around her vaguely, but...never actually talked to you. If you don't mind my prodding, that is..."

Crimson gave a startled glance at the cat, as it advanced towards them. Stiffly straightening her legs, and pulling herself upright into a half-sitting position, only then did she glance around. But when she turned, Daemongeist was already rolling around with the cat, and now, had him pinned down.
Leaping up, her paws thrummed against rough grass, ears pinned back as she followed the trail. After a moment, the she-cat followed them, and sniffed at the air. It smelled like decay? "Who is what? A clanmate? And another thing," Contorting her face, she lashed her tail. "Why did you do that? This cat is obviously not right in the head!"

(Shimmertail is open. Maybe Spottedkit could wander out of camp and bump into Timberpaw c; Oh and Rainpaw and Breezepaw, open too.)

Daemongeist glanced at her for a moment, considering over what he was going to do. The cat was clearly dead. There was nothing left for it...and it had attacked them. Daemongeist did not want it coming after them and attacking them. So, turning back to the cat, he dug his claws into the back of its neck, abruptly cutting off its breath. With the windpipe seemingly severed, the cat had no way to breathe. It struggled in vain for a moment then, quite suddenly, came to a jerking halt. It was dead...again.
Daemongeist turned back to Crimson, sheathing his claws and giving his paw a slight twitch to flick away the blood. His pale green eyes narrowed in disgust at what he'd done, but he knew it was for the best.
"I don't know," Daemongeist admitted. "Whatever it is, it's gone now." He let loose a panting breath, then lifted his head to answer Crimson's other question. He scowled a bit, slightly embarrassed. "Because I, uh, like you, I guess? Uhm...yeah. That's it." He flicked his paw in disgust again, clearing the blood. No way was he going to lick it off. It was...well, it wasn't normal whatever it was. That cat had definitely been sick. "Look, this isn't going to make things weird for us, is it, Hidey? And don't flatter yourself, either." He added, with a narrowed look.

Blizzardsky looked up at her, giving a shrug. He guessed that not every Clan member had been informed. "Well, moons ago, I was taken by Twolegs... along with Solsticetalon and Forestkit. We were taken to a giant den with cages. My head started to hurt... So I think they did something to me." He tilted his head down to show Opaqueshade the top of his head. Fur was growing back, but there were stitches embedded in his skull where the Twolegs had performed surgery. "Solsticetalon left me to fend for myself after we escaped." Looking back up at the warrior, his brown eyes were suddenly glazed with sadness. "We couldn't save Forestkit." Blizzardsky shook his head. His gaze suddenly hardened. "I'll never forgive Solsticetalon. I haven't seen him in camp, so I'm guessing he's a rogue for good. Serves him right."

Featherpool was grooming nearby and she stopped dead when she heard her kit's name. She slowly turned the head towards Blizzardsky and sighed sadly, approaching. "Is that what happened to him? How did he die?" She had known that he had to be dead, but she wanted a little bit of closure on the matter.

Blizzardsky jumped at Featherpool's voice. He turned to look at her, her downcast expression stabbing him like a claw. "I'm sorry, Featherpool. We couldn't get to him. A Twoleg brought him to another den and... and it didn't come back with him." He remembered helping the she-cat birth her litter of three. Blizzardsky felt a pang of guilt. He shook his head, looking away at the ground in shame. "He would've made a fine warrior."
