History
During a warm greenleaf, Doveflight and Snakefang had been gifted with two kits. For the first week, they weren't sure what to name them, but eventually they decided on Shortkit, named after her short muzzle, and Fogkit, named after her smoky gray pelt. The two mates took good care of their kits, of course with help from the clan. Doveflight was a good mother, although as soon as the kits started to regularly eat fresh-kill, she moved back to the warriors den. Snakefang worried that she should have stayed with the kits in the nursery for a while longer, but Doveflight was often restless from being cooped up.
As kits, Shortkit and Fogkit got into a bunch of trouble. They constantly tried to wander out of camp, occasionally managing to sneak out. The two were best friends, always sharing fresh-kill and getting under every cat's paws. Even as kits, the two couldn't wait to become apprentices, often seen around the fresh-kill pile taking turns stalking each other.
However, one day, when Shortkit and Fogkit were about 3 moons old, they wandered out of camp at the wrong time. A dog had been seen close to Stoneclan territory, and the kits wanted to go and protect their clanmates. The two kits bravely sneaked out of camp towards the direction the patrol had gone to check on the dog. Doveflight was on that patrol, so the kits waited until Snakefang had gone out to hunt before making their move.
They padded along confidently, without fear of the dog at all. The two squeaked and squealed excitedly about their first mission. They would be the best warriors ever, they told themselves. Unfortunately, the wind was facing the wrong direction, and it seemed that the dog wasn't alone, since the two kits were soon face to face with another dog.
Thankfully, Snakefang didn't take long to realize that his kits were missing when he arrived in camp. He managed to get a warrior to join his search. When they finally found the dog, Shortkit and Fogkit were hiding inside a hollow tree trunk. They mewled pitifully, wailed with fear, and called for help. The dog seemed intent on getting one of the kits, and it managed to grab Fogkit by the tail, harming her in the process.
When the two cats had driven the dog off, Fogkit's tail was not in the best condition. The two kits were carried back into camp, and thankfully, Fogkit's tail mended with time, although it was now notably crooked. Snakefang, however, had been severely wounded from the fight with the dog. Shortkit hadn't attempted to escape the camp after that, and soon began to spend more time in the elder's den, seeming to prefer their company instead of Fogkit's. These were the first moments that Fogkit had begun to show signs of jealousy. When she prompted her littermate about why she wouldn't play anymore, Shortkit told her that she didn't want to play with her because listening to the elders was more fun. Fogkit tried to come up with stories, but those were all futile attempts to win her littermate back.
Once Fogkit's tail had healed completely, she was soon renamed Crookedkit, per Doveflight's request. Crookedkit was upset at first, but vowed that despite her crooked tail, she would still manage to become a notable warrior.
After having been apprenticed, Crookedpaw was nervous and somewhat insecure. She felt that maybe, having a crooked tail would make it harder for her to train. This seemed to prove true when she trained with her sister, Shortpaw. It took a lot of practice for her to properly learn the battle moves. She didn't give up though.
One day, Crookedpaw was out near the river trying to learn how to properly fish. She wasn't so good at it, and it frustrated her that her father knew how to fish, and she didn't. It didn't occur to her that the river was fuller than usual, given it was newleaf, and before she knew what happened, she slipped into the water. All the young she-cat remembers of that day was blacking out shortly after having swallowed large amounts of water.
When she awoke, the clan was grieving for Silvertalon, the warrior who had apparently given his life to save hers. She sat vigil with the rest of the clan, but after that experience, she refused to stray too close to the river. Just getting her pelt wet gave her bad memories.
On the day of Crookedpaw's and Shortpaw's warrior ceremony, after having received their warrior names, Crookedtail and Shortwhisker, the two new warriors happily went out on a walk before they had to sit vigil. Little did Crookedtail know this would be the last walk that she would have with her littermate. Shortwhisker was caught in a twoleg trap and by the time reinforcements arrived, twolegs had already come to take her away.
Snakefang and Doveflight worried over the fate of their stolen kit, but neither of them seemed to miss her more than Crookedtail. She would even stop by the elders den and listen to their stories sometimes, just as Shortkit used to do.
After many moons, all seemed back to normal. However, of course, to this day Crookedtail has an intense fear of water and suffers from fearing that cats will leave her.
Personality
Crookedtail is generally a sweet and kind she-cat, however, she has a few jealousy issues when it comes to cats she cares about. If no problem seems to present itself, Crookedtail is kind and friendly, always interested in the latest clan gossip. She doesn't mind helping around the clan and won't hesitate to join partols, unless it's the dawn patrol. Crookedtail isn't really a morning cat, and she might be a bit grumpy around dawn.
When Crookedtail is close to a cat, she might get a bit possessive of them. Seeing said cat near another, and seeming to enjoy themselves too much, will make Crookedtail instantly feel insecure and storm over. She knows how to make a scene when she's upset, and it is fairly easy to tell when she is upset. If she suspects of anything, from infidelity to avoidance, Crookedtail will begin watching her favored cat with hawk eyes. She doesn't mean any harm, she simply fears being left alone and doesn't think much of herself. Surely there are much better cats out there, so she tries desperately to hold onto things she cares about. Thankfully though, Crookedtail is fiercely loyal to cats she cares about, and she would give her life for them.
Jealousy aside, Crookedtail is usually good company. When in a really good mood, you can catch her playing with kits, or bouncing around camp in search of something to do to help. At times, it seems like Crookedtail is still an apprentice, but she makes up for it when it's time to hunt. Thankfully, Crookedtail is blessed with a thick, short, gray pelt that helps her blend in with her surroundings. When hunting, the whole world seems to disappear around her, and it might be a bit hard to get her attention. Be warned, if she loses her prey, she will hiss about it to any cat willing to listen.
Extra perks
Crookedtail loves expressing
her feelings for a cat where all the
clan can see. She likes to let cats
know what belongs to her.
Things to note
Crookedtail is sensitive
when it comes to her tail.
If any cat mentions it or
seems to be looking at it,
she will flatten her ears,
hiss, and disappear into
her den.
