What's the story behind the fungus pets?

You know, I am really glad those cockatrices were released as regular pets. We got some amazing pets, but I still say those cats are amazing store pets and still perfect for this month. Honestly, all were released really well. And I still say this site has absolutely AMAZING artists!

A few days ago I was upset about not being able to get a joker/devil fox..Soooo I quickly sketched my own...


Now I have two of them XD ...how silly.


Also I totally agree the cockatrices are amazing. Im just missing the black one. =3 but hey thats not so bad I will survive!

What's the story behind the fungus pets?

I was curious about that too so I searched the tread for any mention of "fungus" and found this:

They're inspired by cordeyceps, which are a fungus that takes over it's hosts body and basically turns it into living dead. Think of a clicker, from the last of us, if you will c:

Its not so much a story as an interesting fact, but there you have it.

As an artist I refrain myself as much as possible from editing monthly pets. I love the challenge of having to come up with something unique, special looking without really relying on any line edits. With this I think that when events come, my inner line editing monster finally gets unleashed and makes me go wild all over the pets... and things like the cockatrices happen X'D.

You are allowed to make new species? Adoption page says "Other species" but there are only foxes for now
I was dreaming about these things all the time: bulldog, collie, Basilisk, muscle car-designed dogs or horses, hamsters, snakes, ducks. 3/7! XD make some ducks. little yellow ducklings


And... Is there any significant difference beetween Cockatrices ans Basilisks? I just call them "Basilisk" because it's hard to me to write "cockatrices" XD shame

yes, basilisks are snakes (i think x3) and cockatrices are a chicken that breathes poisonous gases

Basilisks are snakes, cockatrices are reptilian-bird hybrids.
At least, that's how I imagine them.
