SwiftClan, the fastest cats of all, are unlike any other clan in the world. We, SwiftClan cats, love the whistle of the wind speeding past our past ears as we run. We love sleeping under the stars, content with the belief that StarClan protects us. We are naturally built with long tails and legs, to speed across the moor with the breeze, to enjoy the warmth of the sunshine and wind, to enjoy our life in SwiftClan.
Our home was built as the start of SwiftClan, our destiny. StarClan always knew this day would come, when the beginning of SwiftClan would rise. My descendants will soon learn the ways of the warrior code, to flash across a rabbit's path before it could escape alive, to stalk across dead, bristle grass without creating a sound, to fight alongside each other, to protect and fight for their clan to their last breath.
As a lone clan, SwiftClan has never really had any trouble, but ferocious badgers and foxes threaten our safety, though our warriors will fight to protect, even at the cost of their life. We prefer settling arguments with words instead of claws, and this sometimes leads us to being called cowards, though we ignore it.
I will always watch my clan live, whether I am in StarClan or not. I will do my best to help, and when I cannot, watch helplessly as my clan suffers. But I will always live with the belief that SwiftClan will survive, and I will keep watching from generation to generation.

Many generations ago, the territory of SwiftClan was a barren landscape, untamed. Cats from far away began appearing, hungry and thirsty. There were no rules, no borders at this time, so there were constant skirmishes over prey. Cats lived by themselves, their attitudes towards each other keeping them apart.
A healthy, young she-cat was sick of all this mistrust and fighting, and decided to call a meeting with all the cats. Everyone was reluctant and afraid to attend, scared a battle would rage again. The young cat, named Swift, was determined for all the cats to work together, inspired by old tales of the great clans. She explained her idea to everyone, their ears pricked intently. As she finished, cats began to argue and disagree among themselves, thus nearly leading them to another battle. Swift was angry at the cats for being unwilling to work together as a clan, and then told them the benefits a clan would provide for them.
A tom, also wanting peace, stood up by Swift's side, supporting her idea. More cats rose up to vote, many choosing Swift's idea, but some staying behind, unwilling to support Swift. They drifted away to live as loners, and Swift began her work of piecing the new clan together. As she finished, every cat was happy and content, settling down for rest.
StarClan visited Swift in a dream, granting her new lives and the knowledge for what was to come. The new clan was named SwiftClan, in honor of Swift, the founder. The tradition was passed from generation to generation, growing stronger each time.
And that's how SwiftClan came to be.

The Warrior Code

1. Defend your clan, even at the cost of your life. You may have friendships with cats from other clans, but your loyalty must remain with your clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.

2. Do not hunt, or trespass in other clans territory.

3. Elders and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted and fed the elders.

4. Prey is killed only to be eaten. Thank StarClan for its life.

5. A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.

6. Newly appointed warriors will keep vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.

7. A cat can not become deputy without having at least mentored one apprentice.

8. The deputy will become the clan leader when the leader dies or retires.

9. After the death of retirement of a deputy, a new deputy must be chosen.

10. A gathering of the clan is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night.

11. Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.

12. No warrior may neglect a kit in pain or in danger, even if that kit is from a different clan.

13. The word of the clan leader is the warrior code.

14. An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win his battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or it is necessary for self-defense.

15. A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.

Herbs

Alfalfa
Used to prevent tooth decay.

Aloe Vera
Use the gel inside of leaves to cure skin problems or burns.

Ash (Tree)
New shoots are to be eaten, and chewed and applied to the bit of an Adder or Viper to stave off the effects of its poisoned bite.
Keys (seeds) of the Ash tree may also be consumed to fight the pain caused by a stitch in the side.

Borage
Leaves and Roots should be consumed to stave off fevers. Seeds and leaves should be consumed by the nursing Queen to increase available milk.
Borage should never be used dried, only green.

Bramble Twigs
Chew this to a fine syrup. It helps to sleep.

Burdock
Leaves may be chewed and applied to wounds that are clear of infection to speed healing.
Roots may be chewed and applied to a wound to draw infection from it.

Catmint
Leaves and Flowers can be used to relive congestion and coughs.

Celadine
Used to strengthen weak eyes.

Chamomile
Leaves and Flowers may be consumed to sooth a cat and add to their physical strength.

Cobwebs
Gathered and pressed into wounds to stop bleeding. Generally only used with wounds that risk bleeding heavily as they can cause increased risk of infection.

Comfrey
Used when healing broken bones

Deathberries
Berries, or any other part of the plant, when consumed will kill the cat who swallows if they are not given immediate help, and even then they may not always be saved. Roots & leaves may be chewed together and applied to sore places, but must NEVER be applied to open wounds.
This is a poison in addition to a healing plant.

Enchinacia
Used to ease infection.

Feverfew
Leaves can be used to reduce fever, in addition to being consumed to aid against colds and stomach ailments.

Honey
Used to sooth the throat. Particularly good for smoke inhalation.

Juniper
Berries ease the stomach and can serve as a counter poison. Leaves are used to ease coughs and other respiratory problems.

Lavender
Leaves & flowers are particularly good when eaten for easing pains in head and throat.
Inhaling the sent of fresh flowers can also calm the nerves.

Marigold
Leaves and Flowers should be consumed to relieve chills.
Leaves and Petals can be chewed and placed on wounds to prevent infection.

Mouse Bile
Bile from the liver of the common mouse may be harvested and used to kill stubborn fleas and ticks.

Poppy
Seeds can be consumed to remove pain and aid is sleep.
Flower heads should be consumed together to relive continuous coughs.
Petals and Leaves should be chewed to aid in sleep and improve resting.

Tansy
Leaves, flowers, and Stems should be eaten together to remove worms.
Leaves may be chewed to relive joint aches.
Flowers should be consumed to remove coughs.
Pregnant Queens should NEVER be given Tansy, for it causes miscarriages.

Thyme
Should be consumed to calm the anxious cat, or to aid in brining restful sleep.

Water Mint
Used to help cure bellyaches.

Willow Tree
Water from beneath the bark of the flowering willow may be dripped into the eyes to help clear blurriness of vision. It may also be applied to dry patches of skin to sooth itches.
Small amounts of Willow Bark may be consumed to ease pain, act against inflammation, and to ease diarrhea or fevers.

Yarrow
To make a cat vomit up poisons.

Deputy's Ceremony
I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of ____ is ____.

Elder's Ceremony:
"______", is it your wish to give up the name of a warrior and go to join the elders?"
"It is."
"Your Clan honors you and all the service you have given to us. I call upon StarClan to give you many moons of rest."
Deputy Ceremony:
"I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. The new deputy of ____Clan is ________."

Leadership Ceremony:
-Touches nose to the top of the new leader's head- "With this life I give you ____. Use it well to _______ ______."
When all of the lives have been given, the previous leader says these words:
"I hail you by your new name, _____star. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of ____Clan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity."

Name Changing Ceremony:
"Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he/she is. By my authority as Clan leader, and with the approval of our warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment on he/she will be known as _____, for ___________."

Apprentice Ceremony:
"____kit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as _____paw. Your mentor will be ________. I hope ________ will pass down all he/she knows on to you."
The leader calls up the warrior he/she has chosen as a mentor.
"________, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from ________, and you have shown yourself to be ______ and ______. You will be the mentor of _____paw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her/him."

Medicine Cat Ceremony:
"I, _______, medicine cat of ___Clan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He/she has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help he/she will serve his/her Clan for many moons.
"___paw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"

Medicine Cat Apprentice Ceremony
Medicine Cat: Cats of ____Clan, as you know, I will not be around forever. So it's time I took an apprentice. I have chosen a cat who has shown ____ and ____. Your next medicine cat will be ____kit.
Leader: ____kit, do you accept the post of apprentice to __________?
Apprentice: I do.
Medicine Cat: Then at the half-moon, you must travel to the Moonpool to be accepted by StarClan before the other medicine cats.

ＴＨＥＣＡＭＰ

Our camp is located on a grassy hillside beside a forest, and though we don't do it much, sometimes cats venture in there and climb the trees. Our camp is not partially sheltered, which makes us seem vulnerable, but we are cleverer than we seem, and have dens that surround our camp, with difficult-to-climb rocks bordering them.
Where the warriors' rest and chat is the warriors' den, simply a small, rocky cave draped with leaves with many entrances, so that they can come streaming out in an attack, ready to fight.
Where the apprentices brag and laugh is the apprentices' den, a seemingly small den, but with the entrance leading up to a bigger room inside.
Where the queens rest and the kits play is the nursery, a moss-lined rock with a branch laid across it. It's entrance leads underground, but somehow there is always enough sunlight to light up the whole room.
Where the elders rest and tell stories is the elders' den, a formation of sturdy earth with moss and vines draped on top of it. This is the place where eager kits and apprentices come over to listen to the elders' tales in their earlier lives.
Where the leader relax and think is the leaders' den, a den that rests under a overhanging rock. The rock is the Highrock, where the leaders' make announcements, call meetings and perform ceremonies.
Where StarClan meets with the medicine cats to share important things is the most important place of all, the Lunar Cave, a sacred cave with moonlit water that gently laps at the bank of the water. The walls of the Lunar Cave are lit up by the radiant shine of the moon, which makes the cave seem enchanted.

Sharp-minded, loyal, intelligent and calm at most times, Owlstar has never let his clan down once. Not afraid to try anything, Owlstar puts himself at risk far more often than any cat would have ever imagine, due to his devotion to his clan. Mainly skilled at fighting, Owlstar strikes fear into his enemies' hearts easily. On the other side of this stern, dare-devil cat, Owlstar also has a soft side. Treating everyone with respect and fairness, he earns it back easily. He tries to get the chance of helping other cats as much as he can, for he likes feeling good about aiding a cat.

ＨＩＳＴＯＲＹ
As all other cats, Owlstar was clanborn, the only kit of Moonripple and Duskclaw. Ever since he was a young kit, you would find him stalking a leaf or batting a moss-ball while yelling battle cries. He grew up as a strong-willed apprentice, always begging his mentor to go out to practice and learn. As Owlstar grew up as an apprentice, his parents were both killed in a battle with badgers. He mourned for them everyday, and vowed to be the best warrior he ever could be, for his parents' sake.
