This rather unusual chap represents the oboe, the king of the woodwinds (though not my favourite!
)
To take this guy home, you must guess which breed his dam was (HINT: the country of her origin is one of the countries where the oboe was played in the 17th century under a different name).

Personality: King thinks very highly of himself and likes to act like he is king of the paddock. When a new horse arrives, he is first to inspect them and make sure they know how regal he is. When he sees mares he puffs out his chest, arches his neck and prances over. He is the biggest flirt on the farm and actually a hit with many of the mares![]()
History: King was born in France on a fancy farm that bred the highest quality purebreds. King was actually an accidental foal, his mother was supposed to be in foal to a pure bred stallion of her breed. Because of this King was cruelly picked on by the other foals, he was always angry about this. He was just as good as they were! When he was taken out to go with the other yearlings, King's life was absolute misery. His mother, the only horse to ever be kind to him was no longer with him, his only company was the snotty purebred yearlings. King would probably have been sent of to some horrible home if not for a huge mistake. A wealthy person ordered one of the purebred Corsican colts to be shipped to his farm. Unfortunately the main stable hand was sick and one of the new hands had to get the colt. They were not paying attention and had thought the owner said, "The one with the white" when she actually said "The one without white". So the stable hand grabbed the spotted colt and lead him up to the waiting trailer. King was on the rode for a couple days and then taken to a plane. He was given some calming injection and then loaded on the plane. The ride was scary and weird, especially since King felt so woozy. Once they landed he was taken of to the farm, the second he stepped out the man let out a cry of anger. "This is NO purebred! Look at him!" he shouted. The man called and said they had to take him back, the people at the farm said they didn't want the mutt anyway and to just send him off, they would send in the proper colt. King was taken to the auction were the owner of Night Thorn Ranch instantly saw the regal colts potential and bought him for only $700. He has been at Night Thorn Ranch ever since.
