At Dawncloud's commands, Ironheart flicked the ear with a small nick in it before standing. He listened carefully to Dawncloud's instructions, as she was his superior and to Ironheart, the clan hierarchy was one of the most important things. The dark gray-blue warrior padded over to his companions, Owltuft and Sunroot. The large, broad-shouldered tom nodded a respectful greeting to each of them in turn, meeting their gazes once each with his steely blue, unblinking eyes. Ironheart thought that taking the west and east borders was more time consuming than say, taking the west and north borders since they were adjacent, but he was not one to argue with the deputy nor did he speak much in general. Having no friends, Ironheart knew very little about either Owltuft and Sunroot. From what he had observed in his corners of the camp, Owltuft seemed to be quiet himself, always looking about as if a cat was about to jump on his tail. Sunroot always had something had something rather cheerful to say. Ironheart guessed he appreciated that even if he never really felt that spark of joy himself. He had too many things on his mind to witness such a feeling, much less love.
"Yes," the large tom rumbled shortly, his voice like distant thunder, as he followed Sunroot out into the clan's vast territory. His senses went on full alert, his hearing keen and eyes alert to any signs of movement. Blessed with heavy-set paws built for battle, Ironheart had spent long periods of time alone as an apprentice perfecting a silent walk. He demonstrated this now, not having to thing about putting his weight lightly into each step. "Sounds like a border patrol," he added with a grunt before sealing his jaws once more. ((repost))

Pleased with Fernpool's soft reply, the silver tom sat down, curling his tail around his paws neatly. At her question, the warrior gave a small huff as if it were the most tragic thing in the world. His pleasant green eyes rolled up to the sky and back to meet Fernpool's gaze as he meowed, "Yeah, I guess I'm not Dawncloud's first pick for even a patrol. Not my fault I like to have a 'lil fun once in awhile!" He complained, humor more in his tone than despair. For a moment, he watched the she-cat munch on her prey. The mouse was too thin and frail to be considered decent. That alarmed Spiritwind slightly, as it meant the queens wouldn't have substantial prey. Thinking of queens reminded him of kits which reminded him of Fernpool's lost ones... Spiritwind dismissed the thought, refusing to show his inner sorrow. Although young and inexperienced, what if one of them was built for speed like himself, and Tigerstar saw him to be a fit mentor? It was a childish thought, but it was very much like Spiritwind to dream like that.
"Hey!" Spiritwind's eyes lit up as an idea came to him. "How about we go hunting later if you're up to it? The clan always needs more prey, and I don't know you that well. I'm sure I could learn a few things from you. I've only just become a warrior." He twitched his whiskers and puffed out his chest proudly, knowing he was still in the ranks of some of the fiercest creatures in the forest.

His gaze followed her with disappointment, but he waited until they were away from the others to speak to her "You will learn. This will all pass, you wont be the best, but you'll do what your capable of and nothing less. Are you hungry?' He asked. He wasn't walking to the training clearing, but outside of camp. Firestorm decided she needed to learn to hunt more than anything else.

The white shecat was not expecting to be approached, and with the controlled, happy chaos of the camp, she didn't notice Silverstreak approaching. Her pelt quivered when he spoke and she was very quick to face him, her deep green eyes burning as if she had mentally prepared to kill whatever spoke to her. Of course, she was able to calm her instinct when she realized who the mystery voice belonged to and chuckled nervously, she was about to say 'You shouldn't sneak up on me like that' but she didn't want to interrupt what he was already saying. She was LATE? I must have awoken later than I thought.. she thought, recalling a lark awoke her this morning and she normally arose before the lark called. She glanced to the side briefly from embarrassment, but was quick to get over it. She listened to what he had to say before speaking "Well... I had hoped to talk with Tigerstar first. Im afraid our prey has started leaving the territory too early in the season...." "with all the kits coming, I hope we'll have enough to last everyone in leaf-bare." She refrained for saying what she thought, for she dint want to worry anyone. She shook the thought off and gave her clan-mate a soft smile "But I have time to deal with that later, and it looks like we'll have to make up for Hawkspot for now." she said in a happier tone, "Just us two this time? They normally send out more than that."

darkpaw scented the air, trying to smell something over rain and leaves. nothing, no scent at all. he was trying to practice hunting from trees, but to no luck. he couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy towards thistlepaw. she's so skilled at hunting in the trees. and she never falls off. shaking his head, darkpaw realized that there was no point in jealousy. it just causes problems. suddenly, a sound came from below the branches. when he squinted, darkpaw was able to make out the figure of dipperpaw heading towards the river. silent as a mouse, darkpaw followed the tom, leaping from branch to branch. dipperpaw settled by the river. little did darkpaw know, dipperpaw was in no mood to be messed with. he crouched down on the branch above dipperpaw's head. unable to hold it in, darkpaw chuckled, shaking the branch. a clutter of dew droplets, twigs, and leaves showered down onto dipperpaw's head. by now darkpaw was laughing out loud. in fact, he laughed so hard that he lost his balance and toppled off the branch landing with a thud beside dipperpaw. he chuckled, staring at dipperpaw. "uh, surprise?"

she frowned. "hm.. i guess." staring back at the den, she shook her head. i was hungry. but then you told me to stop eating so we could go out and train." thistlepaw gave him a half smile, something extremely rare for the young, spiteful she-cat. finally, she was beginning to accept the fact that this would be her mentor for the next four moons, and she needed to at least try to get along with him. "sooo..." she trailed off, looking at him to see if he was still angry. "are we going hunting? because i.. you know.. need to improve my hunting skills.."

......the silver tom noticed the hostility laurelbite first showed towards the tom, but chose to ignore it, letting his muscles loosen as her mood quickly changed. a frown edged over silverstreak's muzzle as the white she-cat spoke of less prey in the territory due to animals leaving too early.just what the clan needs, silverstreak thought sarcastically, but sadly. the long tom took one last look around the camp for hawkspot, but seeing the sleek tom nowhere, he returned his attention to the she-cat in front of him. "i guess dawncloud wants to keep cats with apprentices off of patrols so they can train more," silverstreak guessed with a shrug. "plus hawkspot's not here, which makes the patrol even smaller." silverstreak had to admit, he was disappointed in not getting an apprentice, but there would be more opportunities later. the silver tabby tapped laurelbite on the shoulder with his tail, indicating he was ready to go. the tom began padding out of camp, knowing the she-cat would be close behind him.

He glanced down at her, growing a thin smile he failed to hold back. "Any cat can run, hide and call for help without any training. It'll be some time before I teach you to fight." he started in a calm tone, hoping to gain an understanding between them, now that she seemed ready to open up. "I stopped you from eating for a reason, an empty belly will find food quicker than a full one. Until you get better, you can only eat after our morning hunts. Hunting is a skill you must master before you can do anything else. We'll be walking until you get hungry enough to hunt."

Tigerstar


Long legs extended to their full length so his belly fur touched the ground as he ran. He wasn't chasing anything, nor was he being chased, he was just running to run. To feel with wind in his fur. His small rounded ears were pinned flat to his skull against the wind, muscular form moving gracefully. Not a single movement was wasted, it was all purposeful, powerful. This was what he was bred for. Power and grace. He was far from being the largest cat around, but it was clear he could hood his own. As a fallen tree popped up in front on his his muscles bunched and his legs curled as he sprang clearing it with ease. He landed with a soft thud on his paws and kept running, never tiring. Of course, this wasn't real, none of it was real. He knew all too well that he was dreaming and quickly jolted awake, his body upright. He knew he needed to be awake now, it was his internal sun telling him to get his furry rump up. He needed to find a calmer way to wake himself up though, his heart was racing and blood roaring in his ears. He managed to calm himself down with simple deep breaths and then padded out of his den to check up on his clan. He yawned as he stepped out, blinking at the light change. His eyes adjusted fairly quickly allowing him the chance to look up at the sky. He purred softly then hopped into the middle of the camp. He flicked his ears and turned about until he was facing the where his deputy happened to be. He noticed that she was already organizing patrols and smiled in satisfaction as bounded in her direction."Good morning Dawncloud! Ahead of the game I see." He called to the deputy with a sift chuckle. He flicked his tail and then looked towards his approaching apprentice."Hello Deathpaw!" He greeted his apprentice who always seemed grumpy. Honestly, weren't young cats supposed to be filled with life? Sheesh. Well maybe he would lighten up as he got older.

she took in what firestorm said with interest. i understand what he says. i guess working on my hunting is more important than my fighting. we don't get attacked by anything much. "i unders-" she jumped back as tigerstar dashed passed her. she nearly snapped at him out of instinct. thank starclan she caught herself before saying something she would regret saying to their clan's leader. once the tom had passed by, she opened her mouth to reply to her mentor. "what i was trying to say is, what you said makes sense. i'll wait to eat from now on. and i think it is wise to work on my hunting before my fighting." thistlepaw nodded in the direction of the camp entrance. "where will we be hunting today?"

Owltuft glanced at Ironheart, then curtly nodded his head in confirmation. He was alluringly quiet and suave pretty much all the time, and most of the time, only responded with body language. It was rare to get actual words out of him, and when words do come out of his maw, it's usually something very serious. Though he was charmingly mysteruous and hypnotic to some, others found him to be a bore. One of those cats was probably his apprentice, Gullpaw. He tended to work him hard, but he promised him that hard work would make him a better warrior. At least, that's what his own mentor had taught him. There was never a single moment of rest during the day for Owltuft back then; he woke up, went to training until the sun fell, then returned, ate, then slept.

He didn't want to push the youngster that far, but he still wanted some work ethic to form within him. Then suddenly, his gaze snapped back to the patrol, who began to move forward. Quickly, in fear from being left behind, the massive tom followed them.

Snowwatcher opened her eyes and slowly rose her head, a wave of nausea sweeping over her. She blinked her eyes a few times to push away the sleep, then groaned softly. The rest of the warriors in her den appeared to be up already, leaving her alone in the empty den. A sudden feeling over concern and curiosity washed over her as she glanced down at her stomach, noticing it was a little bit swollen. "Huh, I must've eaten too much last night... Yeah, that has to be it." She murmured to herself, standing to her paws. As soon as she stepped outside the warriors den, the light merely made her ill-feeling worse, her claws digging to the ground to keep herself for falling over.

She let took a few deep breaths before very carefully making her way to Larkfrost's den, occasionally tripping over her own paws in the process. "L-Larkfrost," she stuttered a bit as she addressed the female. "I feel so ill... My stomach is being bothersome. Could I get something for it, perhaps?" She was silently hoping that Foxstep didn't notice her heading towards the medicine den, so he wouldn't worry.

Bristlepaw groaned as he opened his eyes, noticing that he was the only one left inside the apprentice's den. Panic arose in him, so swiftly he got to his paws and gave his pelt a quick grooming before zooming out of the den. His eyes shifted wildly all around camp, then settled once his eyes laid upon his mentor, Dawncloud. He watched her and listened; he called his name, and saw a few others gathering with her. Probably a patrol, he thought to himself. He made his way over to his patrol-mates, shooting Deathpaw a glance. It's not like he hated anyone in the clan, he just, was irritated by a small number of cats. Deathpaw happened to be one of them, but he worked hard to keep that emotion secret. He smiled at Deathpaw, "good morning, Deathpaw." Then looked at Dawncloud and Tigerstar.

Some cats, typically the younger ones, seemed the most nervous when talking to the higher ranks. Bristlepaw was NOT on that list; he saw them as any other cat, just with a bit more power, respect, and knowledge. His smile growing more bright, he cheerfully greeted the two higher ranks, one of which happening to be his mentor. "Good morning!"
