And also, the stocking sites i've been to say the angel and gourami and paradise fish are fine in that tank and together.

Okay, I didn't know the tank was a high, I thought it was the normal long kind.
The gourami can get to around 6" so it'll be cramped if he gets around full size, I'd still opt to trade that guy in for a pair of dwarfs.
I don't know about the paradise fish, he or she is probably fine, I'd just say the gourami would need to go.
Since gourami are labyrinth fish, they need wider tanks, with more surface space. Labyrinth fish breathe from the surface, so yeah.
If you wanted to keep the gourami though, I'd say you could, but I wouldn't add any more fish.
It's up to you if you want to add any more fish to school with the spanner, but even if they do end up more solitary I'd still get some corydoras or something, that way if he wants to school he can, but he won't get too horribly offended if they end up closer than he wants them to be.

What are dimensions of 29 gal high? I could only found some common dimensions of 29gal, which I still think is too small for full grown angel. Higher of course is better for angels, but if it also means shorter in lenght it doesn't make it okay.
And the angel get just as big as the gold gourami or even little bigger. Some angels, the numbers seen are in cm. So... If you used Aqadvisor as a stocking help, then you probably noticed that one angel fish takes 50% of the tank space.

Personally haven't used that said product(I've used something similar, but messed up with it somehow(though most, if not all, people I've heard use it have had no issues)), but I know the shop keeper of one very good rep fish store recommends it. There are couple things you need to watch out for: don't let it get cold/freeze>kills the bacteria and make sure you have one that hasn't expired(yes, it has expiration date), since that likely means the bacteria has died.

i know that, but there is no stocking for the spanner.

my dimensions are 30 x 12 x 18 and my angel is a descendent of wild as he has lots of green luminescence he is the size of my gold gourami but neither are 6 inches long... probably closer to four. he stopped growing when he was in my 55 bowfront.

Just call me Teddy. ;) And the website was super deceiving! In your cart when you look at it, it says free shipping but then when you check out, you need to select shipping and the cheapest is $12 and doesn't have a live arrival garuntee. :'( I'll keep looking and let you guys know if I find any of decent prices.

So question... don't know if this idea would be beautiful, stupid, or both. Instead of making my 55 gallon a goldfish tank... what if i dedicated it to plants, snails and possibly female betta fish?

Can snails interbreed with other species?

i was thinking of starting with two albino or two blue selectively bred ramshorn snails and letting them populate as well as maybe one or two larger snails such as apple or mystery. i wont go with anything in there that will eat the snails or that the snails would eat (unless dead)(discluding sea-monkeys or brine shrimp as a food source)

like i want everything to be green and lots of surface to be covered in algae. no fake plastic decorations, but rather tons of large rock. plenty of hiding places.

What do you think?

    I don't know a lot about how they'd get along/breed, but that tank idea sounds really beautiful! ;o;

    I'm in need of a bit of help. I'm ready to start stocking my 29G but still conflicted about what to put in there. I really want some attractive fish that will move around and be interesting to look at. Some larger fish would be nice, rather than just really little ones ... I'm not really sure. I just want something peaceful and pretty and fun to look at ;w; I absolutely adore angelfish and I'm tempted to get one, but then that sorta cuts down my other options, especially for larger fish ... So I don't know. Help?
I'm traveling til Friday w/ no access to my tablet!

Mostly quitting CS; I'll check messages on occasion but DA or Skype is probably a better place to contact me.

I don't know anything about snails so I can't help you there, but I do have a lot of experience with sororities. My sorority tank is still my favorite, lol. Just be sure to keep the girls population at 5 individuals or higher. I would feel safe with a maximum of 20 girls, but don't overwhelm yourself. They are quite the handful especially while their still sorting things out. =)

Let me know if you have any specific questions. I think sororities are some of the most beautiful and interesting tank set ups. Especially then natural themed ones. Betta fish have such wonderful, and vivid personalities. ^^

@Alois-Trancy-
Two separate species like an apple snail and a ramshorn won't breed. (:
However two differently coloured ramshorn snails will breed and produce offspring.
I have some beautiful golden coloured rammies in my tank which breed with the
normal browns, and they produce all sorts of lovely goldish colour varieties!

@sleepy I might start with three and then add by twos or fours afterwards, seeing as it is such a large tanks and with all the plants im planning on having. My only fear is that if a fish dies i wont find the body at all :\ i did have a sorority before but then the tank got overpopulated with minnows and they starved to death :\

@Bolt, yeah these blues would only produce blues and "red" albinos i would have the pinks in my other tank :D. i was thinking maybe nerites and a SINGLE apple (i really dont need lots of those) any other snails that would go good in there? i think this is gonna be a fun experience :D

What about rabbit snails?
