Got 6 new tiger barb ladies, looking really spiffy and amazing, and ended up bringing home a blue gourami and gold gourami, both females.
When I had the bag floating at the top, one of my male barbs was doing laps around the bag for so long, lol. He was so excited about the ladies. They follow him now, and don't really care about the other 2 males or 1 female.
My idiot blood parrots keep harassing the gouramis, it's making me really angry, I thought it would be fine but apparently not. These blood parrots are cute but omg they are such jerks, killed off almost my entire tank and now are back at it after I buy more fish, like, they must have a death wish. They WANT me to fry them up and eat them on my nice china.
Ugh.
Ollie and Moogie are more like Dumb and Dumber.
Anyways, if the lady gouramis make it a week without looking worse, I'll name them then. For now I don't want to get too attached....

I would recommend that you PM flyteck for your questions about guppies, since they know a lot about them! :)

I would recommend having a couple of tanks, though it can be done easily with one. If you want to breed, I would suggest using a 20 gallon tank. Should have all the usual tropical setup, filter, heater, and fully cycled.

Have at least 2 females per male, as sometimes they can stress the females out by constantly pestering them, so having more ladies spreads out the amorous advances. You really don't need much more than that to get them breeding. Keep the water quality good, feed a varied diet (frozen bloodworms are a good addition). Often times the females come from the dealer already pregnant.

Having a lot of plants helps, as it gives a place for newborn fry to hide. You can also get a breeding box that hangs on the inside of the tank, which allows water to flow through. You can raise fry there, or in another smaller tank. Some people put the pregnant females in there, though I've experienced stress abortions (one time I saw a molly eject a bunch of undeveloped fry when being moved). If there are lots of hiding places and the tank is fed well, most fry can probably survive if left in the breeding tank.

One more thing, try to find something to do with the fry, chances are you'll have hundreds in a few months if you save them all :o

One of my corries seems to be sick. :( I've been little worried of the little guy for while now, since he's coloration has been bit off. But so far he's been acting normal and eating just fine, so passed it as something else. But then today he didn't get excited over food and was little sad looking and not moving much. So netted him into 10 liter bucket with small filter and put some anti-bacterial medication(as that's all I have for now). He was like super easy to net, so there's definetly something off with him.

And the corry didn't make it... He was doing okay in the morning, but couple hours later when I got home from class, he was laying on his side and I thought he was dead. Turns out he wasn't, but he had some issues swimming and keeping himself straight, so netted him up and put the net so that he was still in the water, but closer to the surface. Though some hours later he was dead. :c So I'm down to 5 corries and all, but one, of my first fish are dead...

I was just going to ask something along these lines. Betta fish fancier looking to start a guppy program.

I just got two beautiful male snake skin guppies from a good friend of mine. Although I absolutely love her stock, I would like to start with some fresh blood in my lines. I'm not entirely comfortable ordering online because I can't personally inspect the fish, however if you guys know any reputable online breeders I might be interested in their stock.

We don't have any locally owned fish stores in my area, or fish clubs I could contact. In addition I would rather avoid major chains because you can't get a history on the fish. :/

Any help is greatly appreciated. =)

im not sure the species, because they look like so many different ones. the domanat is orange with a few yellow dots on one of its fins im not looking at it so i cant remember which it was one of the back ones. and the little one is grey-brown with stripes.
