Shadow smiled and stopped under a tree. She admired her new flower crown and waved her tail. "You know the other animals that I can shift into?" She asked, barely containing her excitement.

Marianne shook her head and looked at her new friend curiously, "Can you show me?" she asked softly. She sat back against the tree and played with a few flower petals lying around.

Shadow grinned and leaped high into the air. Mid air, her forepaws became powerful wings and her hindlegs became sharp talons. Her fur faded into dark gray feathers and when she finished, she was a large harpy eagle. But when she landed she waved her wings. "And, being a Shifter, I can choose what I want to be! Which means I don't have to shift completely all the time and can combine forms. So, I could be human with cat eyes and claws, but have my legs be bird talons and have wings!" She giggled. "That's the only reason I've lived so long."

Marianne gasped and clapped, "That's amazing!" she threw flower petals playfully on Shadow and laughed at the end. "I can only float and use vampire speed, I don't burn in sunlight like people think though."

Shadow turned again, into a small silver tabby cat. She pounced on Marianne and purred in her lap. "Stereotypes are horrible." She chuckled and rolled onto her back with her belly exposed.

Marianne smirked and nodded, "That's so true." she petted Shadow's stomach and looked at the sky, "At least I can multitask," she said giggling.

Shadow purred and watched Marianne with her bright green eyes. "I never thought I would be able to trust another living being! My whole life I've been scorned. I never even knew my parents." She sighed softly. "Or my real name."

Marianne frowned sadly, "Well, I trust you and we have something in common.. I just have my siblings, I don't even know who or where my parents are or if they are alive," Marianne smiled, "At least I found someone I can relate to and we can trust each other, you're the first person that I've told my past to."
