Face it,the world isn't going to get rid of there dogs and unleash them to the wild.
That just isn't going to happen in the forseeable future.
But I do see that we can get tigers and endangered animals into proper spaces if we tried. Like an acre or two for a tiger, at least?
I used to be sugar pixel .

Because releasing dogs into the wild is illogical. They're not wild animals and do not belong in the wild. Stray/feral/uncontrolled dogs already reek havoc on the environment and wildlife.
@Barmy Smarmy: Sources for captive breeding possibly doing more harm then good?

because the breeding pairs are not eeking it out in the wild. finding their own mates.
or we would create a whole knew animal. if we started getting tigers with shorter tail vertebrae, longer faces, bigger teeth, thinner limbs, that is no longer the tiger we once knew
Well then we just have to decide if the new species is worth the extinction of it altogether. I can see where you're coming from with that. A world without tigers is devastating, but what if they evolve to a point where they're also devastating? However, I stand by the captive breeding efforts.

http://www.auburn.edu/academic/classes/ ... ffects.pdfI think it may of been from here.
but sometimes that is what domestication does.
the dog seems to be the poster child of domestication, if you think "all dogs should in truth look like Dingos"
The silkworm is domesticated, I think some of our commercial Honeybees are domesticated
The common pet canary is domesticated as they changed from their wild ancestor type.
Koi are domesticated

I read through the conclusion and it basically says the studies were inconclusive.
The dog is the poster child of domestication. Not because I think they should all look like dingos (because that's silly) but because of the number of shapes, sizes and colors they come in. I really don't think anyone's going to argue that. But that's not my point, nor is it which animals are domesticated and which aren't. (Though I will say that koi being domesticated was NOT a byproduct of it's captivity but because of selective breeding for size, color and shape. That's what happens when humans choose to breed. I would imagine the reason silkworms are domesticated was via selective breeding to increase production capacity. You know, like diary cows)
My point is that releasing domestic animals into the wild is a HORRIBLE idea. They do not belong in the wild. They would wreak havoc on the environment and native fauna and flora. The majority would probably die off (in very slow, painful fashions at that) and those that survived and went on to breed would become invasive species. Say it with me, invasive species are BAD. We already have enough invasive species, we don't need more.
No, the end of the line for all domestic species would be to euthanize every last one. So maybe you kiddies should rethink your position on animal rights because that's what PETA wants, all dogs and cats and guinea pigs and what have you to be killed off.
@Aruni4: I just read where you said 'try to get tigers into an acre or two'. Where exactly would this acreage come from? Cutting down even more woodland and encroaching on wild animals? Seizing the acreage from farmers? But then where are they going to grow their crops or graze their livestock?

This is getting off topic and I'm not understanding what point you're trying to make anyway. So I'm going to end it with this: A lot of people think that dogs should be red spitz types just because that's what dogs revert to over a certain number of generations that are allowed to breed on their own (odd considering red is recessive to black but whatever). They assume that a red spitz type is automatically healthier then the next dog. That's literally as far as the logic has gone any time I've seen someone try to argue for that. These are also the people who fail (or refuse) to grasp a basic understanding in conformation and automatically assume that the prototypes for breeds or the early examples of a breed are healthier then modern dogs when, in reality, a lot of the dogs in vintage photos tend to have poor rear ends. They also assume that the vintage photos of breeds that were in development are how the creator wanted the breed to look, rather then being a work-in-progress.
There are little variant in village type dogs because they're genetically isolated. It happens in all species that are genetically isolated, not just dogs. They revert to a single type that does not change. It's called bottle necking. That doesn't mean that's the way dogs should look or the way they used to look.

[quote="XxDragonCookiesxX".......Also they killed the biggest elephant just for the tusks?WAT?Don't waste a perfectly good elephant for just tusks?I seen native americans waste no animals. Also They did it for just a record. There is a picture where its face is cut off.[/quote]
This s why buffaloes nearly went extinct. The native Americans used every part of the animals because they couldn't aford to lose ANYTHING but then comes along English man who has everything they need and takes just the hide and leaves everything else for the buzzards.
In my mine opinion we need balance. We can kill animals to control their population but we shouldn't over hunt which results in extinction. Same with the rain-forests we just keep going and going but we don't know how and when to stop.
As for domestic pets- Tigers, lions, bears, and other large predators are DANGEROUS and should not be kept by untrained people. They have instincts given to them for porection that cannot be bred out.
But as for dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, chickens, snakes, other small reptiles. They where given to us by GOD. They have so many services that God created them for. I would be so lonely if i didn't have my cat. These animals are clearly meant to be in human captivity (company)

Orca's are very intelligent and emotional beings being used to entertain people at seaworld.
I want these animals to be wild and free again and stop captive breeding.
