The bang had awoken Shasta, and Tron looked at her shaking form. He smiled at her and pressed closer to her for comfort. "I wish I knew." He whispered as he looked towards the cave entrance once more. He nodded absently to Shasta then felt her tongue rasp against his cheek. He took a deep breath and slowly got up to his paws as she did. He watched her move and frowned slightly. She was going towards the noise? Alone? He stepped forward catching up to her, brushing his side against her to let her know he was right there with her. He peered around with his caramel gaze, his muscles tensed ready for action. He preferred to avoid violence, but he didn't know what that noise was or what it came from.

His desire to protect his friends outweighed his fear, he flicked his ears as he walked next to Shasta keeping his body pressed with hers. It was both for her sake and for his own, he felt reassured having another there. It seemed to give him more strength to be able to face whatever this threat was.

Shasta

Shasta continued going towards the noise, slowly, ready to bolt with each step she took. Her eyes were wide open, looking for any sign of movement. She growled non stop loudly, her aggressive side slowly poured out of her more and more, she looked as if she was a wolf ready to attack her prey. She felt Tron's touch at her side, she didn't feel alone at all anymore, her fear was fading but her bravery wasn't. She lowered her head and crouched her body into a hunting position as they turned the cave corner, she bared her teeth and looked over exactly where the noise was. There was no living things, only a shattered block of ice that had fallen into the cave. She relaxed, still shivering when she heard what sounded like foot steps that were fleeing outside of the cave, it got fainter and fainter until it disappeared entirely. "I think something was in here." She whispered to Tron. She relaxed now, at least whatever it was, was gone… for now. She was inside still very confused and upset of course, but she tried her best to hide it for the sake of the team. "Let's try to get some sleep huh?" She chuckled and nipped at his neck. She turned around and gently swatted his face with her tail playfully, then running back like a puppy to the spot where they slept. She laid down once more, glancing at Bear who slept even through the loud bang, she was surprised at him. Too awake to fall asleep, she turned her head to Tron curiously. "So, what's your story?" she asked without further explanation, hoping he wouldn't think she was too nosy.

I'm confused why Fleck whimpers, but I don't question her. I just lay down near her, hoping to provide some comfort. I don't stay too close though, because I'm afraid she doesn't actually want me around. I glance at her for a second. She doesn't look too good but I don't know what to do. This saddens me.

Rome
I re-join Shasta and Tron. They're talking so I sit and watch. Perhaps I should try to sleep now. I don't know, I don't want to not be there if my team needs me. I look out of the cave and sigh, I sure hope that tomorrow will be better. Maybe we all just need some rest and food in us to recover a little bit. Then I'll have to think about what to do to get us to safety because I'm sure we don't want to live out here in the middle of nowhere forever.

Keeping right by her side the entire time his gaze moved over the ice block,or remnants of it rather. His ears flicked slightly, if not for the sound of footsteps he might have relaxed. He was watching intently though no signs of aggression were shown as he didn't know what it was that had entered. Maybe the creature wasn't a threat. Surely if it was unfriendly it would have tried to attack? Maybe there were enough of them to scare it off. Whatever the reason for it leaving it was gone now. He doubted he would be able to sleel for a little while now. He was jumpy, adrenaline shocking his system into being wide awake. He chuckled softly as Shasta's tail hit him on the face. He turned to follow her looking towards Bear who was sleeping like a tock, and towards Rome who was still awake.

His gaze settled back on Shasta as he settled next to her once more, Hus flank pressed up against hers. His story? She wanted to know his story? "Well it isn't anything exciting..." He murmured and gave her a brief smile before thinking about where to start. "When I was born my father was a lead dog, and my mother a team dog. I was meant to take my father's place on the team, but instead I was sold with my siblings, my owners needed the money to pay for their house. " He flicked his tail slightly, he missed his parents and his siblings, but he was here now and had friends here. Regardless of the events today he was happy. " My siblings went elsewhere... David bought me. I've been here ever since. I was trained to be a lead dog at first as that had been where I had experience most and then I was moved to team dog. " He didn't really care where he was located, he just wanted to pull the sled to the best of his ability. " And now I am here with all of you." He said to draw his story to a close. He licked her muzzle softly, smiling at her.

I begin to doze off as I watch everyone around me. Deciding to call it quits, I lay down into a giant puff ball, covering my snout with my red tail to keep warm. My ears flatten against my head as I try to ignore any noise around me. It's a lot different sleeping out in the wild as opposed to in a house or our summer kennels. Finally, I close my eyes and try prepare myself for what will come tomorrow. We need a plan and food.

I wiggle my tail a little as I sit next to Fleck. I don't say anything to her because I'm not sure she feels like having a conversation right now. It seems not. A shiver runs through me, making me twitch. I fluff up my fur so that the snow, which is not water gets off my skin.
