As Pineleap was in the warriors' den, he heard the yowls of pain. His ears stood right up, looking side to side. He heard it again, and started to sprint out of camp. He could see Flintfoot, Krestelflame, Flamewing, and a mysterious cat that Pineleap had never noticed before. "W-what's happening?" He yowled stubbornly, deciding whether to attack the mysterious cat.

[fowauke]

Flamewing glanced out of the corner of her eye at Pineleap. "Stand back!" She snarled. "I can take care of this! You just have to trust me!"

[atticus,]

Pineleap's eyes stared at her. "I-I want to help!" He mewed loudly.

"No!" She growled. "I need to protect my clan! You are not going to get hurt!"

(You've caught my attention... Why would he do that?)

She tumbled to the side, smashing into the ground in a gasp of pain. "I... Can't let you touch them!" She hissed, as she lumbered onto her paws. Her chest was heaving, and her side trickling with blood. Yowling with rage, loyalty and love for others, she flung herself onto the cat. "I'll drag you down with me!"

Kestrelflame's father growled. He pushed her off and leapt at Pineleap, holding him down by his throat. “One move, Deputy, and I'll slice his throat.”

[fowauke]

Terror gripped Flamewing by the throat. She couldn't do anything. Her legs began to shake, and she had to swallow down vile stuff that arose. Her eyes stretched wide, and every ounce of confidence left her body. Then, she had an idea. "Please," she choked, her voice horse. "Don't hurt him. You can have my life." She cried, pressing herself low to the ground.

He smiled grimly. “I know your tactic, she cat, you already have a mate. This is just a warrior. I am giving him a chance...Will you join me, or will you die?” He snarled, turning his attention to the tom under his grip.

Hate, grief, and shock swirled in her eyes. "But that isn't important! What's important is his life." She began to carefully edge forward. "Please. What can I give you, that will result in his safety?"
