The mare gave a huff, swishing her tail as she looked around. She was in search of a herd, as she had lost the small band she had been with not too long ago. She had went off to find a place to foal, only to find that her foal was stillborn. Upon her journey back to her band, she returned to find that they were gone, nowhere to be seen. Knowing that she needed protection again soon, she had gone out in search of another stallion, or other horses in general. Giving a loud whinny, she welcomed any within earshot.

The old roan stallion was trotting, making his way through the area. He then stopped, eyes scanning his area and surroundings. In the distance he could see lots of horses doing various things, their coats contrasting against the summer grass. He then lifted his head and gave a loud whinny, calling out to any mares within earshot. He was old, and therefore very experienced. Although his strength wasn't what it used to be in his prime, most younger and inexperienced horses probably wouldn't challenge him, which made him a perfect candidate for most mares.

The pure black mustang mare stood on the outskirts of the area around the watering hole, lipping up green grass at her own pleasure. She had recently just been separated from her herd while her stallion was fending off a few bachelors from trying to steal his mares or his herd. During all the chaos and confusion, she found herself alone not too far from the watering hole. She had hopes that they would come by soon and she would be able to join them again, as she had an acceptable stallion. She also had a yearling from the year before last, which was still with the herd. Or at least, she hoped. She also realized that her estrus scent might bring a few males running to her location. She just hoped her herd would get there first.

A young black and white mustang mare made her way through the dense foliage and trees, emerging from them onto a grassy plain. She stopped, taking in her new settings. Not too far off was a running stream, it's running water like the sound of chimes in her perked ears. Immediately she broke into a canter toward the stream, stopping short at its edge. She lowered her muzzle into it, taking in the cool, clear liquid that ran down her throat in the most soothing manner. When she was finished she lifted her head and further explored the area she now found herself in. Off in the distance she could see horses scattered throughout the land. She could see mares with foals, some lone mares, and stallions trying to snake and breed mares. She gave a small snort at this. Still young in age, she didn't get the point of any of this. This would be her first season out by herself, as she had left her family herd later than most mares. However, being in stage four of her heat, she was rather flirty with any stallions she would come across. Deciding to get closer to the action, she cantered farther into the horse-dotted land.

The dark paint stallion lifted his head from grazing and snorted. There seemed to be no one around, but he recognized a certain scent. At first, he didn't place it, but only seconds later it came to him. There was mare in heat nearby. With a loud whinny, he took off at a trot, following this scent. He lengthened his stride for a short time, shaking out his coat and stretching his long legs. Content, he gave a little crow-hop. As the scent of the mare got stronger, Wind slowed his pace to a trot once more. When he finally saw the mare, he nickered to her. She was quite a pretty paint mare[Broken Mirror]. His movement slowed again, this time to a walk. As he approached, he let his eyes slide over the mare. She was quite young, and a very beautiful mare. Mentally, he decided she would be his. But he did not yet voice his thoughts. Instead, he paused a few steps from her and said hello.

With a joyful whinny, Angie kicked up her heels and galloped across the land. She did not care that her tail was flowing out behind her, thus making her heat-scent stronger. Actually, she would prefer to be with a stallion. The pretty dappled mare ran with her head low, the breeze she created blowing her mane and tail out behind her. She quite enjoyed running freely. Her eyes scanned the landscape and suddenly, she slid to a halt. Not far away, there was a stallion. She looked around for a moment, hoping there was only one. She hated being fought over. It annoyed her and she got tired of being chased and herded back and forth, back and forth. But to her contentment, there was only the one stallion. Good, she thought to herself, beginning to walk toward the stallion. Her ears flicked forward, toward him, and she stopped a few strides away, curious, but smart enough to be cautious.

The young bay mare grazed calmly, her ears swiveling every so often to catch any sounds that were not completely normal. Danny lifted her head and swished her tail softly, looking around. She needed a stallion, yes, but she really wasn't one to go searching for one until it was absolutely crucial to her survival. So, she was content to stand around grazing in the sunshine, maybe lope a few circles once in a while. The mare's eyes watched everything they could as she went back to grazing, ears still flicking in different directions according to noise. As she grazed, her hooves moved slowly forward, her lips seeking out the more juicy patches of grass and dandelions. That was partially how she got her name; dandelions. She enjoyed eating them and had played with them as a foal when they got fuzzy. She didn't play with them as much anymore, but every once and a while she would.

Grim slowly walked along contently, tossing her nose up gently the mare bobbed her head softly and nickered gently before bobing her head and smiling softly, whickering contently as he waited for a hopeful reply of a mare. A sigh managed to the male as there was no reply. He flared his nostrils and pinned his ears before looking up and snorting. The large male turned his nose to his hind hoof where he lifted it up and scratched his ear roughly. As he believed he was content he pulled his nose back and then turned his head back and chewed at his stomach and shoulder, his winter coat falling from his body as he chewed. Most horses coats were ragged and shredding, not one horse had a beautiful coat yet, and never really did, their coats always had scars and rub marks, even the mares. But until summer the horses coats would be rubbed, dirty and slowly thinning out. Occasionally you'd see snow, as it was only early spring, not yet the full breeding season, another week and mares would be in spring heat, many atleast would. The stallion flicked his ears and grazed quietly before looking at the river near by before he simply grazed contently.

A pretty black mare with a star, a stocking on her left front leg, and her two back legs, she was a pretty sight, bore such beauty and grace, however, this time of year brought the mare a horrid look, it brought all beautiful mares a horrid look. Tossing her pretty head the mare looked up and flared her nostrils, ears lightly pinned as she was a tad bit worried about stallions, though her scent was not thick and strong, it was there and stallions were going to notice it no matter what. as the wind picked up the mare noticed that a storm was a head, she also knew that stallions would want to gather mares before the storm started, that gave the stallions a few hours.

Faith grazed contently, the pretty bay mare lifted her mane and snorted particularly happy at the moment, the mare was quite agitated and annoyed, a little sore in the stomach the mare stamped her hooves and occasionally kicked at her stomach, she was not collicing or anything, but like humans, mares occasionally got sore when in season. The mare loudly called out but still, agitated she wasn't going to be too polite over breeding and may just kick the male after being covered. She showed it in her eyes, her agitation and frustration, ears pinned she called out loudly and pulled her tail up and swished the end of it frantically to spread her scent. The mare had come early into spring heat and was quite cranky about it, the mare slammed her hooves down as she broke into a trot and swished her tail non stop to attract a stallion.
