Story explaining Spex's first Halloween: Spex was still a very small pup when he went trick or treating for the first time. People were rather surprised that, instead of scared, he found everything amusing! He could see why stuff was scary, but he himself wasn't scared, and that made for a strange first Halloween. People would attempt to scare him and he would laugh, and people admired what seemed to be courage. He just liked the idea of Halloween, truly.
Spex's eyes were wide as he trotted slowly down the street, taking it all in. Porch lights and strobe lights and just plain festive lights. And the decorations... He stopped and stared at a robotic zombie pack that crawled around a person's yard, either growling or saying something threatening. Spex watched as a brave soul opted to press on despite the chaos in the yard. The child watched the zombies apprehensively as she walked. Suddenly, one came crawling in her direction. Spex wagged his tail, imagining himself in her place. The girl screamed and ran toward the door, knocking furiously. He was confused.
'Why is she so afraid? It isn't scary at all!'Spex then turned his attention to another house that people had run screaming from. Someone was dressed up as a figure from a movie Spex had not yet watched, and he was startling people just by walking toward them. Spex ran over to the figure eagerly, looking up at them and wagging his tail. The figure looked down at him. "Hello there. You're not scared of me, are you?" The apparently male figure leaned down and petted Spex. Spex barked excitedly and nosed his bandana on his muzzle, showing off the fake vampire fangs. The figure chuckled at him. Spex bowed and growled playfully. "Oh no! A vampire!" The figure laughed. He was suddenly preoccupied by another victim, and so Spex moved on.
Spex stayed out late at night, just watching everything go on. He got home late, but with images in his mind that would last for a long time.
