I climb up the hill, the scent of deer is heavy in the morning air. The wind is blowing against my face, forcing my eyes to water, I clench my teeth tightly together and snarl a little. I was tired, hungry and felt as though I might fall to the ground and never get up. I was so focused on food that I didn't even notice the wolf scents that surrounded me.
Then I see it, not deer, but it'll do. The rabbit was just ahead of me, but luckily he wind was still blowing against me, so it couldn't smell anything. I crouch low, almost touching the ground like a snake when I creep forward. The muscles in my back legs tighten as I get ready to pounce. No, no, no, no! The wind changes and the rabbit is immediately alerted. It leaps forward, but so do I, and my sharp claws snag on it's back leg. It screeches a bit and it makes me bight my tongue as I snap it's neck. I taste my own blood in my mouth. I try to ignore it, and dig into my meal, admire the colors of the sky, and wash the crimson blood from my thick snowy pelt in a nearby stream.
I throw my head back into an enchanting howl, I am a small wolf and the rabbit had actually mostly solved most of my hung-...... My eyes widen, now I smell the other wolves!
