Joseph noticed her emotion and was tempted to apologize. after a moment's hesitation, he did. "scoralen, i'm sorry if I struck a nerve...you don't have to answer..." he said softly, his eyes showing concern for her. he offered a small smile and took another bite of the pizza slice.

When Scorlaen opened her eyes, they were still the beautiful green they had always been, but they were glowing. She quickly closed them and looked away, clenching her jaw. Keeping her eyes closed, she tried her best to explain. "My friend...died, not too long ago," she managed to say that much before she had to concentrate on keeping control. When she could trust herself to go on, she did. "Ever since he died, I haven't been able to control my emotions or my magic. I try to do what he would want me to do, but...I lose it at the most random times. I'm the one who should apologize for losing control," she finished quietly, still afraid to look at him with her eyes bright.
