So my 10 gallon has only a bristlenose pleco in it now. It previously was a small community tank for a while but some of the fish got sick and others died(from old age I'm guessing, they weren't sick) I have had it with just the pleco for a while and I tested my water yesterday and everything is good. I'm looking to maybe get one fish for it, or maybe a single species tank. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't really want any guppies or tetras or anything like that because I've had those before. And I don't want a betta either because I haven't had the best experiences with those. (It's freshwater btw, I'm sure you guessed because it has a pleco but)

How many gallons is your tank?: Not quite sure, about 7ish gallons
Number and Type of fish in tank: a Moor goldfish
How long has it been running?: Since earlier this year
Did you cycle it?: Yep
If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels?: n/a
What is the issue or question?: There's a severe case of a cut over his left eye. I can see the meat (is that the correct term?) and some blood vessels. I just found out today when I was doing a regular water change. The skin is cut/ripped off. I really hope the eye isn't damaged. It isn't cloudy like if he has cloudy-eye. I'll try and add a picture.
Any other information?: It *may* be from him bumping into the filter (the part where the water is sucked up) or from the air stone. The tank is bare-bottomed and has several plants. Half of them are in a smooth glass jar/pot-like thing.
Edit: While searching for information I read that neosporin helps? Not really sure about that one, but is it true? I don't have neosporin, only polysporin.

If you have any photos, please post them. Photos help a lot for diagnosis.

7 gallons is too small for any goldfish :c Black moors need ideally at least 30 gallons.
Injuries (and most fish problems, really) can generally be healed by keeping the water really, really clean so he doesn't get an infection. Do extra partial water changes and it should heal on its own.

Wish I could say the same thing to my mom. So no medications needed?

I lost my purple hmp betta last night. :c
I don't think I'll be getting a replacement, since I'll be going to college next year.
I want to put the delta tail that is in my room in the ten gallon though. It'll make things easier for me. The lid on the one he is in is all crappy and it looks like the tank structure is kind of failing.
I'm going to see how he does with the cories before I empty his tank though.

I know you said you didn't want any tetras or similar, but, fish choice is kind of limited with your tank size. So here's what I'd do with your tank if it was up to me.
I'd suggest getting a small school of Celestial Pearl Danios (they're gorgeous and tiny..) and maybe a molly or two, or a Dwarf Gourami if you aren't interested in the mollies.
Alternatively, there are things like threadfin rainbowfish and hatchet fish that can live in a 10 gallon just fine, but they aren't as hardy as the first three I suggested.
