congratulations; you've gotten the dream job of the century. working at smartpak during the day and getting to see your darling horse afterwards — what could be better? ignoring, of course, the canine-friendly workplace, the weekly outings with your coworkers, and having a portion of your horse's board paid in return for trying out free smartpaks. the answer to that question is, of course, nothing.
so what next?
boston, massachusetts. or, more accurately, plymouth, massachusetts. you drive to work every day, sit down at your desk, and grin giddily at how lucky you are. but as much as you may love your job, there are bills to pay and animals to feed — the not-so-fun and easy part of life. so how exactly do you plan to go about it?

» All of Tess's rules apply.
» Please PM your forms to me before posting. Don't worry; chances are, if you follow the guidelines, you'll be accepted.
» You may have as many characters as you can handle, but all of them must be kept active. I would recommend no more than three.
» Each character may have up to three total horses, but at least one of the three must be a lease when starting off. You may buy the leased horse after a certain amount of time has passed, which will depend on the horse and will be decided by me. The lease fee will also be decided by me and will depend on the quality of the horse. If you only have one or two, you may own them both. You do not have to own or lease any horses, but it will certainly be much more fun with them!
» Each character may have up to three dogs, and they must be spayed or neutered in order to be at the office.
» This will be a primarily girls role-play, because the actually SmartPak team is mostly (if not all) female. I won't not accept you if you join with a guy (and he meets all other requirements) but keep in mind that we don't have to keep the genders even. I would strongly encourage, however, that you all work it out amongst yourselves to set up boyfriends and husbands for the SmartPakers, just so we can have some fun romance, too.
» No LGBT characters, please, as it does not suit the plot of the roleplay.
» Semi-literate is absolutely required, but I'm not going to set a minimum. If I feel like you're not posting enough, I'll just send you a PM to let you know. Grammar, however, is very important to me, so please take care to use it.
» Please don't join if you don't plan to remain active.
» No power-playing, god-modding, mary-sues, or gary-sues — this includes having a perfect relationship between your horse and his/her rider.
» Do not roleplay through the perspective of a horse or dog. Stick to the human's point-of-view in third person.
» Keep the roleplay realistic. Much we we'd like to believe it, our pets aren't always perfect. We don't always have this sweet, wonderful bond with them. Sometimes they'll get sick or hurt and sometimes they'll refuse a jump. Same for humans in general; if someone pulls an all-nighter to get something done, she probably won't be feeling too good the next day.
» Reservations last for 48 hours. I will message you after the 48 hours are up to see if you still want the spot; if you do not reply after reading it and continue to post for quite a while afterwards, your reservation will be cancelled. Same goes if you become inactive: If you read the message and are active elsewhere for several hours, your character will be removed. If you respond and are still interested, you may have 24 more hours. After that, your reservation will be opened back up.
» Pretty forms are nice, but you don't have to worry about not being accepted if you can't make one. I'm looking solely at writing quality and the character itself.
» On the form itself, please include for humans their name, age, gender, a description, personality, good and bad traits, history, riding discipline, amount of experience with horses, riding skill level, the names of any pets, their job, and their apartment location (may be switched to house after purchasing one). Anything else is optional. For horses, please include their name, age, gender, breed, height, personality, a realistic and brief history, the discipline(s) they will be trained in, the barn they are boarded at, whether or not they are in the Active Rider Program, their lease fee (if for lease), and their rider. Tack is optional, but highly appreciated. For dogs, please include their name, age, gender, breed, a description, personality, a brief history, and their owner. Pictures for all forms are required. Forms will also be required to be filled out if a horse will be participating in the Active Rider Program, if a dog will be brought to work, and for whichever SmartPak team the human is applying for.
» Humans can be any age from 22+. Because SmartPak is an actual company and these positions require skill, they will have needed to have attended college. The highest ages will probably be around 30ish, but you're more than welcome to go higher.
» If you aren't planning to breed your stallion, please geld him. Otherwise, you will need to board him at a stallion-friendly barn, which will result in a higher charge due to the necessary accommodations.
» Please try to use pretty pictures. If you can't find any, try weheartit.com.
» I'd prefer that you keep breeds within disciplines realistic, but I understand that there are outliers in every discipline so I won't post a list or anything here. Just… please try to keep show jumping clydesdales to a minimum.
» Don't forget to visit our discussion thread here! Horses will occasionally be for sale, up for stud, and for lease by the game, and players can offer their own horses up for these services as well. However, no horses can be created after the roleplay has begun unless a new character is created who owns them.

» In this role-play, you live in Plymouth, Massachusetts (or surrounding areas) and work at SmartPak Equine for whichever team you choose. You can board your horse and one of four facilities, each with differing pros and cons. You can also live at one of four apartment complexes, or buy your own house -- again, each with differing pros and cons. Each character starts off with $15,000, and will gain a monthly salary that will increase as the character works harder and earns raises. This will be dependent upon how hard you work. There will be bi-weekly retreats for the whole office to go to, as well as smaller ventures you can take with your friends. There may also be equestrian competitions later on, just for fun -- not by discipline, but more along the lines of a team challenge. Ready -- set -- let's ride.
