I posted that I am semi-lit int he 1X1 RP board, and got a reply. SO I gladly make the topic and spend about an hour making it look nice, and makign my characters good. What do IO get as a form from her? This...

Appearance: A punk who usally wears black n red checked jeans
Wolf Form: Pure black wolf with a torn off ear and bright blue eyes.
Personality: Find out
History: She killed her parents when her power became to great.
Crush: none

Oh hey cool thread. I could share a million and one stories here about past
RP RAAAAEG moments, but I think I'll just blow some steam on the topic
I came across today.


I've been feeling a little RP-needy the past few days, and since I cannot find a site
interesting enough for me to actually work enough to get involved into it, I decided
to take a peek at CS RP boards.

Maaaaajor dissappointment. The only even remotely literate RPs I seem to find are
"semi lit" and even then they fail massively at being that.

I wish people would understand that the level of 'skill' in a RP isn't just about how long
lines you write.

It is also about your character.

To make a RP interesting, there needs to be interesting characters. Characters that act
differently, characters that are opposites of eachother, well developed characters with reasons
to act like they do.

And as I read through the casting of most these "semi lit" RPs, I see the same character repeated
over, and over, and over and over again.

Here is the summary of every character ever;
Quiet, anti-social, aloof and brave.
Is a very mysterious person with a dark past.
Is diofficult to befriend, does not trust others easily.
Will give life for the few friends he/she has.

Pardon me but ROFLOL.

How is there going to be any RP happening at all if every character is just gonna go
off brooding in their awesome aloof brooding corner? :'D

Complete agree. A lot of people seem to have a character like that.
And their "dark past" is usually something like:

- Not much friends
- problems at home/school/ with their parents

Or they have secretly some kind of superpower x3

If you want to give a character a "dark past", at least make it interesting! Maybe they were hired in an underground black-market drug store or something. xD or even was hired to assassinate someone, and they got too involved in the whole thing. Haha, i mean, come ON! If I can make up something like that in a minute's time, then a completely illiterate person could at least stuble upon the possiblility of one of those...

I know! It's fun making up characters with really difficult pasts. I once made a character who was really female, find out she was lesbian in high school. Then she went to college dressed as a boy, and it's interesting to find out exactly where her secrets are going to take her. Problems at home are cliched and boring. Simple as that.

Ha, there's this one person in my RP right now (not naming any names but you probably know who Paledawn -_-), and they have this wolf pup that is super duper immature and I don't even think her character has the sense to use proper grammer o.e No offense, but its starting to bug me ._.

Well if you've got a problem with her grammar you've got to say so. It's called a spell check and is pretty easy to use If she's gets offended...well... that's her problem.

Yeah, but its not just me who has a problem, its everyone on the RP besides her xD Ha, well I guess I'll wait until she does something else wrong - but thanks for the help! ^^
