The reason I asked was because I'm trying to get a shiny furfrou (not using the Masuda Method unfortunately) and I'm racking up quickly on normal ones

i have a question for you all that are willing to answer c:

since we're on the topic of the mesuda method, what is needed to get a shiny?
i've heard that breeding a pokémon that was from anther country would get you a shiny, but i see other people saying you could breed a shiny to get a shiny.

do both of these methods work?

Breeding a shiny Pokemon doesn't make it any more likely that the hatched Pokemon will be shiny; it's no different than breeding two regular Pokemon.

The Masuda Method is when you breed two Pokemon from different region games. For example, if you breed one Pokemon from an English game and one from a French game, the chance of the eggs being shiny increases. I believe the regular chance of getting a shiny is 1/8192. In Gen 5 (as far as I'm aware, the Gen 6 statistics haven't officially been calculated yet,) the Masuda Method multiplied that rate by 6, bringing the chance of finding a shiny to 1/1365. So, unless you have a shiny charm, the chance is still pretty small, but much better than breeding without using any method.

In response to Phione Mango's post, there isn't any __ percentage rate of finding a shiny egg before __ number of eggs. The rate is the same for each egg and does not change depending on how many eggs you've hatched. Going by the Gen 5 statistics above, that means the first egg you hatch will have a 1/1365 chance of being shiny. The next egg will also have the same chance, and so will every egg afterwards; it's not like the rate changes to 2/1365 for the second egg, 3/1365 for the third egg, etc., and you're guaranteed to find a shiny by the time you hit 1365 eggs. There's as much chance of the thousandth egg being shiny as there was for the first and every one in-between.

I kind of hoard Lucarios. At least, I'm trying to get one from each of the seven different languages. (I still need Spanish, Italian, and Korean; if anyone has any, feel free to send me an offer!) Then there are about four from my own game(s) I'm holding on to for sentimental reasons. ^^

As for wonder trades, what you get really just has to do with luck. Sometimes you'll get something really cool, other (most) times you'll get "junk" Pokemon. It just depends on who you get paired up with and what they happen to be sending at that moment.

It's just luck and what time you wonder trade. That's not the best of all wonder trades, some people wonder trade shiny Rayquazas! Keep trying, and eventually you'll probably get one~
