Well, I just got these in a trade, and they seem perfect together.

How I came up with it is a mystery.

<3 I want to write a story. In fact, I just might have to.

Here's the little beginning/prologue if you will.

I padded across the empty land. I let a small sigh escape my barricaded mouth. I hated it here. There was nothing to do; simply nothing was here, aside from some trees and a few dull bushes. Perhaps, once I grew up, my small wings could take me far. Far away, from this place and this land I was going to have to get to know so keenly. I stopped. What was that? A bird? No. A mouse? Here? Yeah, right. No—it peeked out from the bushes—it was a girl. She was my age; at least, I hoped so. Her multi-colored eyes shone in the deep darkness. The moon was a simply crescent tonight, not offering much light to us lone night wanderers. I could hear her unsteady breaths as she maneuvered around the empty space. She tried to take cover in the small bushes, but it did her no help. I, and anyone else wandering here, already knew she was there. Her blue coat did no help in hiding her like my deep grey did me. I heard a sly growl as a darker wolf with—wings, was it?—emerged from the shadows. Her white teeth polished the gloomy air.

“What is a young pup like you,” she dragged out you, all while hissing her already sinister words. “hanging out around these parts… at this time?”

The breathing became quicker and nerve-wracking for me to hear. I had to do something. I glanced down at my paws. I couldn’t see them—what was going on? I turned around to look at the rest of myself. It was as if I wasn’t even there. I wondered if my red eyes still glistened.

The young girl did not reply to the butterfly wolf. “Oh,” she snarled again, “I see how it is, honey. Just come out, and everything…” there was a long pause. “will be fine.”

“I—I can’t-t come out…” the pup wavered. The wolf snickered.

“Well, I can wait all night,” she scoffed.

Her words shook me. I glanced around for any sign of the girl. Nothing, until…

The wolf flew at me. Her glittering teeth were barred at me. “Stop thinking of saving her, invisi-boy.”

So she could read minds. I couldn’t think of anything else, even though I was pinned to the dark underbrush.

“Yes, you dog, I can read minds.”

Suddenly, the weight of the flying wolf was off of me. I scrambled to my paws. Looking around hurriedly, I saw the eyes again. The bright, multi-colored orbs stared at me intensely. Her breathing became steady as she glared at me.

“I won’t hurt you.” I smeared in a hushed tone.

She was startled. She glanced around nervously. Oh yeah, I’m invisible—

“Who’s there…?” she whispered.

I thought of saying ‘it’s me! It’s me!’ but this girl didn’t even know ‘me’. Doing anything like that would be a lost cause anyway.
I finally found my voice in the pit of my stomach.

“Shadow.”

“I’m Zoe,” She said, stepping out of her cover that was a small shrub. Suddenly, the sun began to show. Just slightly, ever so slightly. “oh me, oh my, is that you? The… wings…? The red eyes?”

“Who else, Zoe?”

She snickered, and I smiled for the first time I can remember.
