So I did a water change yesterday and one of the ottos went really weird and scared the heck out of me after I had poured in the first bucket of new water... :? It came right to the surface, kinda looked like it was trying to suck on the surface(so it was upside down), seemed to have trouble swimming balanced(it was more crooked to the one side) plus it's tail was bend lot more to the left, and the general coloration was not totally normal I'd say. Almost kinda looked like it was having a seisure.
I added on another bucket so I could turn on my smaller filter, in case it was lack of oxygen. Then I didn't see the little one anymore and filled up the tank as usual. I spotted it again later on the evening, still alive and breathing, but it's quite skinny and still seemed to have little issues swimming, but not as bad as before. Now this morning I've yet to locate it.
I think the same fellow has been acting that weird for slightly longer period of time, but nothing that would cause major concern. Just doing things the other ottos don't do, like suck on the filter's cord.
Any ideas?
No external injuries, I'm 100% sure I used water condition on the first bucket. Only thing that was different about that first bucket is that the water was warmer than usual. But not too warm I think, but I usually add tad colder water than in the tank(temps might drop a degree or two) and it's a fact that warm water contains less oxygen... I highly doubt there's anything weird on the water parameters either... Or at least if there's something weird, I don't have the test for it(like copper, chlorine etc.).
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

Last week I found what appears to be a damselfly in its larval stage in my fish tank.
( The tank itself is tropical, 45 litres, and houses shrimp, snails and fish )
I understand that damselflies are predacious, so would feeding the little guy
some daphnia do for now? (=

Edit: He's definitely predatory. He's staring in to a pond snail shell and wagging his tail. o.o

I've got two Gold Inca snails (one with a betta and one with an African Clawed frog) in planted tanks, and neither seems to have any interest in chowing down on the plants.

If you give them enough algae to eat instead of plants, they should leave plants alone. c:
I have plants growing in my tank and I have lots of ramshorns, pond snails and three rabbit snails. :3

My featherfin catfish actually has a REALLY bad case of ich, like his entire body is covered, I spent all last night crying about it lmao. He's still eating but I'm scared for him. I really don't want to lose him, he's 5 or 6 years old, had him since he was a lil teeny thing.
My mom won't let me go to the store to get meds to kill the ich, and it's not getting any better, it's spreading back to the blood parrots and my meanest panda barb ended up covered too. They're all looking terrible. I'm really upset about it. :\

I also salted the tank for the other fish, 'cause my catfish can handle salt, idk what other people are talking about saying it'll kill him, but he's fine. I tried raising the temps but my black ruby barbs couldn't handle the heat and kept jumping out of the tank. Didn't want them to die so I lowered it back. I don't know what else I can do, my mom won't take me to the store and I don't have the money to have any meds delivered to me.

Ich meds typically don't do squat, so it probably won't make a difference if she lets you go.
Just raise the temperature and add salt and vacuum the gravel/do water changes every day.
The temperature speeds up the ich's lifespan or whatever.
Also, some fish(like some catfish) are more sensitive to salt. Cories develop kidney problems I think I read? It's late, I can't really remember. Sorry. So it could cause problems if you don't treat right. Just saying "cause my fish can handle it, all these people are wrong" is a bit rude. You don't /know/ that he can handle it and is fine. ^^; However, it seems like your best course of action to just treat with heat, salt, and water changes.

Sorry about that, I meant, I was getting tired of everyone on all the fish forums I'm on yelling at me like "you use salt? on your catfish??? he's practically dead already" and then they start fussing me out
Like he's 5 and never had a problem with salt.

The new tank should be coming Tuesday! I'm so excited!! I think I want either a Crowntail or a Halfmoon betta...

( Can't remember if I mentioned this) I bid and won on an EBay auction for a super cheap java fern! It's going in the new betta tank. C:

My fish had to fast today and now I'm feeling dozens and dozens of tiny eyes staring at my back accusingly. I think they might be plotting a revenge...
