As Zephyrkit felt the frigid air collide with his face, he yelped. Why was everything so . . . dark? He could sense sunlight, but somehow he could not see it. Coalkit and Hailkit thought the same thing, and mewled as Bravespirit started to lick them warm and then nudge them towards their mother.

Stared at her six kits happily, and surprised. Usually wild cats didn't have as many kits. Usually it was the pampered kittypets who had the most. She started licking her kits anyway..

Cardinalflight was extremely excited. He called for Boldpaw, who bounded into the den, his eyes watering with awe at the sight of six new, healthy kits. "Oh, they're beautiful!" He exclaimed, and Cardinalflight nudged him in agreement.

He glanced down at them. He noticed most looked like her, but there were two or three that had his distinct characteristics. He then moved closer to her.

Boldpaw rested by the entrance of the den. I wonder who's gonna take over for the time being . . .
