Relationship with brother(dean): Although they have their many faults, Sam truly loves his brother and would do anything in his power to protect him. As hunters, they both live for the unexpected and have very few people they can trust. That's partially the reason Sam cares so much for Dean's safety. Having lost him once already, Sam's determined never to let him down again. Often times his amount of concern annoys his brother, but deep down he's only doing it because he cares. Aside from his overprotectivity, Sam does indeed look up to his older brother. It may not be as evident as when they were young, but even still he has a strong respect for Dean.

Relationship with Castiel: His bond with Castiel certainly isn't as strong as his with Dean, but that aside they're still good friends. Occasionally Sam will drop hints trying to get Castiel and Dean to hook up, but as expected, Cas is usually clueless. Dean doesn't appreciate it much either, and just tells Sam to shut his cakehole.

Backstory: Even as a child, Sam's life has been anything but ordinary. Rather than being raised into a normal life, as his mother had hoped, a turn of events caused him to be forced into the hunting business. Unlike his brother, he didn't appreciate the lifestyle and always saw himself as a freak for it. Eventually, Sam decided he wanted nothing to do with the job, and resented his responsibilities in favor of a normal life. For a while, it worked but alas, fate took a different turn and he was forced to return to the hunting beside his brother Dean. Since then, a lot of things have changed and now there's not much he can do to deny his true destiny.

Charm/talent: As previously mentioned, Sam is a hunter, but it took him a while to realize that was his true calling. Since he denied the hunting life for so long, he wan't given a charm until much later in his life. The one who eventually gave it to him was in fact his brother, and he received it soon after his girlfriend was killed by the yellow eyed demon.

Phobias/Fears: You'd think that as a hunter he'd be practically fearless, right? Well that's not exactly the case. Aside from his irrational phobia of clowns, which Dean will never let him hear the end of, he's deathly afraid of losing his family. He's watched many people die in his lifetime, and it's getting harder for him to bare. Dean and Castiel are the only family he has left, and he's terrified that he'll eventually loose them too.
