When the light faded away, the filly felt… odd. She couldn’t feel her limbs properly, as if her entire body had been taken over by a strange numbness. Her sight, too, had been reduced to mere blurs, and she could barely make the shape of her lovely new friends.

As the black and white creatures, apparently curious as usual, approached and poked her with their round noses, she couldn’t help but giggle. Their touches somehow would always pass through that barrier of numbness and burst into small tickles along her body. She squirmed in the blueness and tried to move away from them… and it was then she realized that escaping her mouth were mellodious squeals, the same as those big beasts’. Looking down at herself, now with much better sight, she could see her body had been completely modified. The original crystalline, see through mass had been replaced with bones and flesh. No longer could she be called a filly, for her new form was provided of large, round flippers and a powerful tail that could send her to unbelievable speeds across the vast blue kingdom, becoming nothing but a blur of black and white.

As she greeted her new family with playful nudges and squeals, she silently accepted the responsibility cast upon her with a respectful bow. She was a Watcher of Poseidon now, ready to be his own eyes and ears as she swam through his seas, always hidden from the mortal eyes under the mere form of one of his creations... until the end of her days.

She was an orca now... and she couldn’t be happier.

The colt groaned when he felt the brief warmth of the light leave him. He felt... different. He couldn't really put a finger on what exactly, but something had changed for sure. The colt actually was very hesitant of opening his eyes at first, fearing the worst when he noticed he couldn't feel his legs anymore.

A powerful, yet soft singing soon touched his ears. Judging by how loud the sound was, he quickly figured one of those gigantic creatures was very close to him... in fact, he could even feel the liquid around his body move and swirl from the nearby disturbance. It didn't take long for curiosity to tingle on the back of his head and, with this, the colt decided to give in to the sensation and open an eye, very slowly... only to find another eye staring right back at him a little too close for comfort. Startled, he gasped and harshly moved away, struggling a little in the proccess due to how numb his limbs felt. On the other hand, the imense beast before him only blinked in what looked like a mix of confusion and interest. Actually, now that he could take a better look at it... why did it look much smaller than before? Had it shrunk, maybe?

Realization only struck the colt when he attempted to swim further back, finally taking in the feel of his modified limbs. He observed the long, slegant flippers that had replaced his fragile front legs, not to mention the new imense tail right below, which made swimming so much easier than when he struggled with those insignificant colt limbs of his... and most importantly, he was huge, so huge he felt as if one single move of his tail could damage that kingdom his own father created.

He heard more singing echoeing through the blueness and caught sight of more of those giants. The closest one, the same beast who had startled him at the beggining, blinked at him once more before turning around and swimming towards its friends, as if invinting the newly transformed companion to join their blissful dance. He, of course, obliged, and silently accepted the responsibility cast upon him with a respectful bow. He was a Watcher of Poseidon now, ready to be his own eyes and ears as he swam through his seas, always hidden from the mortal eyes under the mere form of one of his creations... until the end of his days.

He was a humpback whale now... and he couldn’t be happier.

It was a matter of seconds for the sudden light to dissipate completely in the vast mantle of darkness. The colt pried his eyes open, squinting them shut right after, however, when his head was struck by a sharp ache caused by the extreme contrast, which only served to make him a little lightheaded. Well, his entire body actually felt odd and numb, so the brief dizziness was easilly brushed away.

When the colt opened his eyes again, he saw those strange creatures from before swimming not very far away from him. The only thing discerning them from the endless darkness was the white spotted patterns stamped on their bodies. He instinctively tried to move a little farther away from the band in fear one of them might take interest in his smaller, floating form and accidentally poke him with its sharp tusk. That surely was not an experience he was looking forward to. However, as he struggled with his own limbs, he finally took notice how he wasn't really so small anymore, let alone a colt. In fact, now his body was much longer and rounder, his arms had become short black fins that contrasted against the white of his skin, while his legs had turned into a heavilly spotted, chubby tail... actually, now that he was paying more attention to his drastic changes, what was this dark shape protuding from his nose? At first he had simply assumed the shadows were playing with him, but now he could clearly see it was another of those beasts' bony spears.

A faint singing quickly brought his attention off that strange... appendage. Turning around, he could see the beasts had swam much closer to him, analyzing their newly transformed companion with curious eyes. He at first expected them to nudge him with those dangerous weapons, but they chose to drift in the darkness instead, observing him as if waiting for something... as if waiting for him. That made his eyes glint for a moment both in wonder and happiness, for it seemed he wasn't alone in that dark blue world anymore. He had found a family, and as he swam over to greet and join the new friends, he silently accepted the responsibility cast upon him with a respectful bow. He was a Watcher of Poseidon now, ready to be his own eyes and ears as he swam through his seas, always hidden from the mortal eyes under the mere form of one of his creations... until the end of his days.

He was a narwhal now... and he couldn’t be happier.

The filly grunted when the bright light was gone. Why had it gone away? It felt so warm, so... comforting... and now that she could reopen her eyes and survey the recently found territory once more, it was clear to the filly how the light was merely mocking her. It had just switched the comfortable warmth of its rays for that intimidating, eerie redness. The sight alone of the scary kingdom made her limbs itch in their numbness, followed by a chill that ran down her spine.

It was a loud squeak that snapped her out of the dark thoughts, however, as a fiery blurr of red and orange sped by right in front of her face. Startled, the filly squealed and flinched away, only now remembering she wasn't really alone in that crimson realm. On the other hand, the culprit of her fright didn't even recognize her existence and merely kept swimming around, apparently chasing a hepless fish that would soon become its succulent snack. It didn't take long for more of those hyperactive beings to come out of the crimson darkness as if summoned by some deity, although these seemed to be more interested on the filly's presence rather than the fish swimming nearby. Just like before, they happily squeaked and tried to drag her into their silly games, something that easilly stole a giggle from her... it was quite amusing how all it took was the littlest portion of their playfulness and suddenly that crimson place wasn't so scary anymore. Charmed by the creatures, the filly fought the odd numbness of her body to try to reach out to them... and it was then she realized why her body felt so weird after the light was gone. What was once a mere crystalline fragile filly now had been turned into a big mass of red and pink, with her face elongating into a long snout equipped with innumerous dark teeth. Her limbs had also been heavilly transformed, her arms becoming two large, powerful fins while her legs had joined as a single long, strong tail, both enabling her to make the most gracious of acrobacies. In fact, after taking a moment to digest the changes, she didn't think twice before charging after those singing creatures in their endless dance among the redness, practically mocking it for no longer being able to interrupt her fun.

It seemed that, after her long, challenging journey... she had finally found her place in her father's realm, after all. And as she joined her companions with excited squeals, she silently accepted the responsibility cast upon her with a respectful bow. She was a Watcher of Poseidon now, ready to be his own eyes and ears as she swam through his seas, always hidden from the mortal eyes under the mere form of one of his creations... until the end of her days.

She was an Amazon River Dolphin now... and she couldn’t be happier.

While the brief light should have brought a comforting sensation to his body, the colt only felt cold and numbness. It made him wince as icy liquid seemed to invade his very soul, also triggering the first changes on his form… it didn’t take long, however, for the cold sensation to be replaced with that now very welcome heat of anger. It burnt deep in his heart, running in his veins like thick liquid fire and filling every inch of his body as the transformations took place.

When the light was gone, the colt felt so different, so… strong… powerful, even. It was a whole new sensation he certainly cherished, no matter the fact it was fueled by a corrupt emotion he was never meant to possess. It was then a swarm of strange thoughts invaded his mind, thoughts focusing on the horrific scenes he had witnessed moments before the light took over him. The desperate cries of the fearful, innocent creatures filled his ears like the whispers of a ghost, muffling even more what was left of his father’s gentle voice, while visions of the large shadows chasing the group and staining the blueness with red flashed before his closed eyes. He could feel the hatred spiking in his soul, eager to feed on the darker memories… to dig its roots even deeper into that corrupted being to the point of no return.

And thus, when the watcher finally opened his eyes, he could see nothing but a vast red world.

Whether the redness came from the shadows’ doings or simply from his own enraged eyes, it didn’t matter to him. Actually, the watcher barely paid any mind to his new form either… what had once been an innocent little colt was now a huge mass of white. A beast possessing teeth so sharp they could be the highlights of anybody’s worst nightmare, along with a pair of small fins that contrasted greatly with an immense, bulky tail. One would easily awe at sight of such a powerful animal, specially given its pure white skin.

… how ironic is that, though, that such a corrupted spirit ended up with the purest of colors?

He could hear his father’s voice reaching out to him again for one last time. He shook it off without thinking twice and broke the connection once and for all… it didn’t matter one bit if Poseidon wasn’t approving his changed nature, he didn’t need his guidance, he didn’t want his mantle. Being a watcher was a long forgotten goal, for now every thought that crossed his mind could be translated into a single dangerous word: revenge.

In a blur of white he charged at the gigantic shadows still going after the scared creatures. Those monsters of metal and wood stood no chance, the white beast’s rage was simply too powerful and quickly reduced them to nothing but floating debris. From then on that was his new objective: every time the fallen watcher spotted those monsters sailing by, looming over Poseidon’s realm with their shadows of death, he would charge and destroy every one of them without the littlest hesitation. He was willing to do anything to protect his people… his family... and would hold no mercy for those who dared hurting them.

It didn’t take long for word of the beast’s doings to spread on land. The few survivors of his attacks made sure to pass the horrific tales forward once they were taken back home, the legend burning hot on his tongues as the whereabouts of such creature became more and more spoken of. The incidents inflicted rage as well as curiosity on those people. The more incidents occurred, the deeper his legacy dug into their culture, and therefore, in no time, a new name made its way in their heated tongues, a name that would bring fear to the eyes of whoever heard it echoing in the wind…

A name whose owner, unbeknownst to all, was nothing but a fallen angel.

The white skin had been a consequence of his corruption, for his anger impeded the transformation from being executed correctly… something that ended up preventing him from ever mingling with the environment, with his family…

It also condemned the fallen watcher to a life of loneliness.

But don’t worry. It didn’t bother him the least.

Because now he was Moby Dick.

A white cachalot, a fallen watcher… and a protector of the seas always seeking revenge against humanity.
