I'm pretty sure there isn't a 'right' way for a manticore stinger. Seeing as it's not a real animal, it's open to interpretation. Well known manticores through media have the stinger going every which way, and some take on a multi spiked tail instead of a traditional stinger anyways.
Personally I'm hoping it is a Manticore and that the stinger stays the way it is. That way I can slap some black dragon wings on there and it can be the manticore from God of War! (Who is best manticore ever anyways >.<)

In fact, the "original" manticores even have a human face.
So - it could be, but doesn't have to. ^^

Probably weird, but my favourite part of this pet is his ears - just look at them! They're so adorable :D
