Suchgo wrote:*pops head in thread* Hey, there! I've got a quick question for y'all. Have any of you ever heard of tulpas, and tulpaforcing? They sound similar to daemons, both being conversational entities inside the mind, able to speak(only to you of course) and think on their own. Are they related in any way, and do any of you have tulpas?
Yep I just discovered that! It's like a manifestation of a character, not always one who represents you. I probably hav too many. XD I just discovered the word, though. It's Tibetan; one monk was actually able to give hers a physical manifestation! I do believe that they have their own minds.
But the German shepherd form is working out great.

I'm a bit afraid a tulpa would come out of control, so I'm perfectly fine with 'only' having a daemon ^^'

Considering that the first and only time I had heard about tulpas was when I accidentally came across a CreepyPasta writing about it, I'm not too comfortable associating with the concept as of now. ^^' Kind of seconding what Verdande said, I'm not exactly interested in that sort of thing... I love my dæmon but I know he's entirely in my control and imaginary so that's okay with me. And from what I've heard, I don't think tulpas are like that.
But with that said don't think I'm being close minded about this, I'm interested in what you all have to say and how tulpas are similar to dæmons. =) My brain just associates tulpas with negative things right now so I'm personally kind of staying on the peripheral of it.
Questions for y'all ;D

If you're bilingual/trilingual/learning a language in school/etc. have you and your dæmon ever had a conversation in a language that was not your native tongue? Did it feel awkward or was it still easy to project your dæ's voice despite not being in your most comfortable language?

My first language is English and that's the main language I speak with Cam in. But I'm semi-fluent in Japanese so some of our conversations are in Japanese others are in English some are a mixture of the two. The Japanese conversations cam and I have are basically me trying to prepare myself for my Japanese exchange at the end of the year o-o;
But as for it being harder to project Cam's voice?
I don't really find it any different
But I'm definitely more comfortable using English, definitely
This is an interesting question and I'd love hear other peoples answers ^^

Danish is my native language, so whenever we talk it's in Danish. We've never really had conversations in English, but trying right now, it doesn't feel any different than talking English to another dane.

Often! Sometimes Tos himself even argues that he's just a product of my mind XD When that happens, I'll argue that he's made up of chemicals in my own brain and therefore has to exist in one way or another. We love discussing that kind of philosophy.

My first language is English but I'm close to fluent in reading, writing, and understanding Japanese. My speaking is very stilted so we don't speak in Japanese. He would slip in Japanese words to taunt me when I was studying and getting frustrated though.

I know the concept is weird. Having a glorified imaginary friend representing your subconscious is kinda odd. I never really kid myself about that and I know in the end Cy is all in my head. I just accept him as he is because he's done so much for me over the years.

At first I felt this way and so I even started telling myself that I'm just being weird and that daemons don't exist!! But then over time I realised that everyone has always got that little voice in their head! Wether its telling you off or encouraging to do something its always there and so I guess that helps me remember that Altair will always be there for me whether I know it or not.
And above that Daemons also make up who we are!!!
