Can I guess Vampiric for this dog?
The only clue they gave was 'as these eyes close, others open'
and someone pointed out that the hidden message is 'be strong' and
that all the little hearts are now gone from the pup and replaced by
one broken heart - so I'm kinda thinking that the clue Vampiric gave
is in reference to that old saying 'when one door closes, others open',
which is often what people say when they have a broken heart or
something, to represent part of their life 'closing' and a new part of
their life beginning ('others open').
Plus the eyes are closed so I mean, that fits xP

As a lot of you have guessed, this is indeed my dog!

No one actually figured out my hint "red and blue, three and two" correctly. The first part refers to the "roses are red" poem, which was guessed correctly by some. "Three and two" refers to the number of roses on my pup and adult: 2 on the pup, and 3 on the adult. Though I'm totally not holding any of that against you all, because I'm quite impressed with the other meanings you gave to my hints that I didn't even intend!

My dog wasn't really inspired by anything in particular. Originally I had the adult done without the broken heart or the writing on it, but after some thought I wanted to put some of my personal self into my dog this year. Without going too far into it, I've had a really stressful year to say the least. The hidden message is a reminder to me and anyone else who needs it that things DO get better. It just takes time.
