Equin (pronunciation: "eh-quin")
Equin is the image of grace, light on her feet and able to move smoothly and fluidly with ease. This trait is contrary to her personality, though. While Equin carries an appearance of grace and elegance, she is quite the down-in-the-dirt tom. She loves to slip off into secluded areas of the woods -- to escape the view of others, essentially -- and watch various animals of other species go about their lives, occasionally stirring up trouble. Which is another chip of Equin's personality; she's quite the trouble maker. She doesn't usually intend to rise trouble and make problems, but this is a consequence of her actions she often doesn't fear. Sweet and loving at the heart, Equin often masks the fact she just wants a warm body to curl up beside.

What is a deer? Is it merely an animal that fears lights and skitters across vacant roads? A creature forced from its habitat and closer to that of the humans? Sadly, this is a part of their story -- yet it's not all. Innocent, pure, and dazzling, deer make for one of the many beauties in nature. As they gallop and leap through crowded brush and forested areas, bounding to their next meal, deer prove to have a certain graceful-power I'm terribly drawn to. Such strong builds, yet painfully innocent and victim to deforestation, they'll follow the lightest twinge of curiosity in their bodies.
I was once told of a deer fawn that followed a little pup into its home through a dog-door and was found curled up on a couch beside the pup. Does this frighten you? Not in the angle that you should fear what it may do when it wakes, but what does this prove about deer and their relationship with humans? This barrier that's necessary between nature and humans (as painful as this is to our nature lovers and enthusiasts -- such as myself) is slowly dwindling. As much as some find themselves in touch with nature and its inhabitants, this barrier that's fading is putting animal populations in danger -- warping their trust and forcing them closer to us.
Nonetheless, the deer is an animal that could be viewed as something from a fairytale, if you think about it. Though not an uncommon sight, they still take my breath away.
