I have always adored that name! Great choice.

What animal is Lillian's staff pup off of?

I'm pretty sure that Lilian described her staff dog as a nature spirit that had no childhood and is also pregnant. Parts of it obviously look like their based on a sea lion or something similar but there's clearly more to it than that, as well.
