"But why not? I mean - oh." Mabel was cut off as the girl transformed into a wolf. "That is so cool! What are you? A shapeshifter?" she asked excitedly, then shivered in fear from the memory. "Oh. Nevermind that. Please tell me you aren't a shifter."

My knees trembled and I felt my face rush with heat. i shouldn't of done that! I shouldn't of done that! I put my paws over my muzzle and uttered through a cracky voice "y-yes.." Taking my paws off my face, I quickly added "But I can only shift into animals! I can't even turn into dinosaurs for all I know.." Feeling embarrassed and nervous I put my paws on my muzzle again.

Mabel gulped, feeling a wave of nausea flowing over her. "J-just animals?" she stammered. "N-no gnomes? No... nothing in the woods of G-Gravity Falls?" Mabel clutched her books harder, trying not to shake any worse than she already was. This was almost as bad as her fear of heights.

Feeling my submissive, animal instincts kick in, I lowered myself to the floor and tucked my tail under me. I nodded, looking up at her. "I-I promise.." I knew about all the weird stuff in this town. After all I had been living in the forest for a year.. unwillingly. Shaking those memories away, I looked up at her, my eyes almost teary. Rejection was the first thought in my mind. I couldn't go through that again

Mabel swallowed nervously, and nodded slowly as she lowered herself to the ground. "I... I trust you," she whispered, putting a hand on Beth's wolf nose. Hearing footsteps, she instantly said, "Shift back. I hear someone."

I half grinned when Mabel gave me her trust. My body was quivering with fear until she broke the thought of loneliness from my mind. "Thank you Mabel.. You're the first to say that.." Just then, we both heard footsteps and I crawled back a bit. Then I turned into my regular, human, form and stood up. "Thanks." I whispered to Mabel.

Mabel jumped back against the lockers as one of the students of the school walked by, heading towards their class. "Anytime, Beth," she responded in a whisper, relieved she had made a friend. "Anyway," she said as the person vanished from sight. "Maybe we should head to class?"

Leaning against my locker, I watched the kid as he walked by. It made me realize that class was starting. Pulling my backpack onto my shoulders, i nodded at Mabel "Yeah, guess we should." I said with a slight chuckle. I headed off to my first, and favorite, class, art.

[ where ] science classroom [ feeling ] still worried, irriated
I cross my legs as I jot down a few quick notes in my composition book. I wished Dipper
was here but he wasn't. I don't even know what happened to him. Eventually a teacher
escorted me to my class so I wouldn't have to wait for him anymore. I would've been fine
if he just left me where I was, with my feet glued to the small tiled area. So here I am.
In the science classroom instead, taking notes on a frog's body so I know how to dissect
it later in time. This is boring which is odd for me. I used to like school but for a reason
this school wasn't feeling like the high school I went to before. I tap my chipped emerald
green nails, on my desk and look up at the teacher. Now she's moved on to talking about
other weird experiments we'll be doing this year. Wonderful we get to use burners and I have
Robbie in my class!

Mabel started running towards the art class as well. She made it to the door and slipped through the open door and sat int he back of the room, careful not to attract attention to herself. She placed her bag on the floor and pulled out her sketchbook and a note pad, and quickly wrote down everything the teacher was saying.
