Roll says... 2: Track down (who's surprised).
You keep as quiet as you can, staying low and trying to follow the trail. Beefur and Batstream are still talking, but you can't understand them over the water, so you just stick to tracking down Knotpaw.
But there's nothing. The trail is a dead end, and what's more is that the ForestClan cat is gone too. No matter where you go, it stops at the exact same place, by...
By the waterfall.
You feel a chill, and immediately start following the water downhill.
You can't reach the water until you're past the forest, and it's still too dark to see into the water in the woods. You need someone to help you. Now isn't the time to sneak around.
You run down to the closest part of ForestClan's border, shifting anxiously from one foot to the other and waiting for a patrol. Minutes drag by before someone shows up - a red and white tom accompanied by a black male apprentice.
"I need your help," you blurt before they can say anything.
The warrior narrows his eyes. "What are you doing away from BrookClan territory?"
"I'm searching for my friend, just-" You're trying not to become frantic, but you can feel your pitch rising in fear. "Please, I need you to come with me up to the forest and look through the river."
"You don't have any business being there," the warrior says coldly, but the apprentice is more patient.
"Why do you need to go up there?" he asks.
You cut to the chase. "I think that one of your cats is in some serious trouble."
They glance at each other, unsure how to take this.
"We need to hurry," you say, becoming desperate. "They might be dead if we don't act quickly."
There's a slight pause, and then the warrior says, "Shadepaw, go get Swan-nose and Goldenfoot. I'll go up with..."
"Rookpaw," you say.
"I'll go up with Rookpaw to see what's going on. Trail us."
The apprentice nods and darts into the woods. The warrior motions for you to lead the way, and you turn and run up the hill.
"What exactly is going on?" the warrior says, easily keeping pace with you. "Why were you up here, and what do you mean by 'serious trouble'?"
My friend went up here too.
Can you keep an eye on the water?
Something bad's happened.
Say nothing.
