The air seemed thicker somehow, stuffy and uncomfortable. Like a thousand people where breathing down her neck, waiting, watching. Although, Bel reckoned that she deserved it, with how bad she had been jerking around the crowd as of late. After all, it was one thing to hold a press conference, but another to use it to say absolutely nothing. With a heavy sigh, she supposed it was time that she straighten a few things out. Her talk with a reporter before had her thinking. Very kindly they had sat down, explaining their reasoning with patience and kindness. It had given Bel that small push to finally set the record how it should be. From her chair back stage, she could hear voices as they wondered where she was. Why she was waiting.
Yoyce was walking towards her with purpose, headset on as she fired rapid instructions to those who were helping out. Bel flashed a smile at her as her friend walked over.
'You ready for this?' the girl asked as she adjusted her sweater, knowing that this was a big announcement. It seemed like the nervousness and tension was carrying to everyone, even those who were just bystanders to this chaos.
'As ready as I will ever be,' Bel replied with her typical sly grin. Even in the most uncomfortable situations, she always managed to keep it together.
'Head on out whenever you're ready, I'll bring the pup to you when you announce,' Yoyce said, before going to check on the aforementioned critters. After letting her walk away, and taking a few deep, calming breaths, Bel stood from her chair, walking to the edge of the curtain. She was ready to do this, but she hoped people were ready to hear it.
A hush fell over the crowd once again as she strode purposefully out to the podium. Oddly, it did not seem as imposing this time. It actually felt like a pressure was lifting from her chest, after all she had put everyone through some much. She cracked a smile at the fact that they were still gathered here though, waiting. Having people so fun had made her enjoy this time more than any other. She had felt like part of the community, and it was not a feeling likely to go away any time soon. Reaching out to tap the microphone, she stifled a laugh as it plunked in the speakers. Her audience laughed as well, breaking the tension that seemed to be building.
"Good evening everyone," she started, smiling at them kindly. "I know it has been a long few days, especially with me." Again, a slight chuckle. This was good, they didn't seem to be upset with her. "As you all know, there has been intense speculation that my dog Floogle was a designer breed by myself. I will confirm at this moment that this information is false. Floogle has not joined by at this release because, although he is my dog, I was not his creator in any way. I will not release who, as that is up to them, but I will confirm he is not mine.
"I was going to leave it at just that, and let you puzzle more over which dog released in the large litter was really mine. However, after hearing a well thought out theory by one of your own -- the reporter Claw, if anyone cares to know -- I have decided I should probably just get this over with. I thank you all so much for being willing to allow me to interact and play with you all, as it has been an immense pleasure. With that, I am going to now ask Yoyce to bring out my beloved dog." Pulling away from the microphones, she looked over at where Yoyce was walking too her, carrier in hand. A sheet was draped over it, covering the pup from the crowds view. As she got to the podium, Bel unlatched the mesh, before sliding the cream coloured pup out. His necklace flopped onto her arm, and she positioned it so the entire crowd could see.
"Everyone, I would like you to meet Babbu. He is my pet, as I designed him and brought him into this world. I will not reveal too much about him yet, aside from the fact he is mine, because he will change a little as he grows. They all do, so fast. Babbu here, however, was inspired by native american culture. As well, he and I both share a passion for the skies, something which has become evident with him more so than I imagined! I was overwhelmed and awed to see how much you all loved him, and I thank you so much for that. So, with that everyone, I thank you for putting up with my shenanigans, and am glad to formerly introduce to you..."
Bel positioned the pup so she could grab his paw and make it wave to the crowds,
"Babbu Racat."
*Applaudes* Good show! A very good show! Thank you Bel for the lovely pup! And thank you Claw for the fine detective work! *continues clapping with the crowd*
You're welcome! I'm a better Sherlock then I suspected...
