The sleeping body of the handsome alpha slowly began to move. Each new movement signaled that he was ascending into consciousness once more. Finally, a pair of green and gold-flecked eyes fluttered open to view the real world. Everything was blurry for a moment, but with a few slow blinks the details of his den came into view. It wasn’t completely light yet, and the colder temperature that tried to penetrate his thick and beautiful coat told him that it was still quite early in the morning. However, the sun peeked over the hills, shining some light on the world around him.

Adin looked upon his messy coat; it was slightly unkempt and dusty. With a soft and short annoyed growl, he went to work on fixing himself up. It took a while, but eventually it was perfect. To him, it was, and that was what mattered. In his opinion, if he felt like he looked good, he figured the others shared the same opinion as he. Adin stood to his large paws and made his way outside of his den. Breeze was returning from a small morning run and hunt. He dipped his head kindly to her, but still showed his dominance by keeping his tail raised. “Hello, Breeze,” his deep and handsome voice rumbled as he padded gallantly towards her, “a good morning to you.”

The scent of another one of his pack-mates drifted through his nostrils. Rain was here, and was in plain sight. The realization that he really didn’t notice her at first secretly embarrassed him. However, Adin pretended like he knew all along, and turned his head to greet her as well. Adin stood tall, making himself look a little larger than he really was. It was all for the looks, honestly, and the others knew that.

Just as the sun soaked into her raven-black pelt, the huntress was up and awake. The dizziness from sleep wore off immediately as she trotted out into the open, her tail slightly lowered to show submission to any higher wolves that were around. The chilly weather didn't bother her very much anymore; her thick coat was almost finished growing and the darkness in her coat drew the warmth from the sunlight to her. Her fiery amber eyes locked on two of her pack-mates, Kinumyth and Wren. Both were higher ranks than her, so she immediately lowered her tail a little more and slowly walked towards them. "Good morning," she smiled as she dipped her head respectively, "as I woke I heard you were planning on going on a hunt. I could help."

It was usually her job to come up with a hunting plan, or any strategy of some sort. "If you want, I can go scout where the elk herd is, and come up with something."

Faolan could feel the presence of another wolf approach the merry group, his hunter insistent clicking in, his ears flicking as each paw pressed against the ground. He turned his head, his shoulders tensing as he did so. His gaze fell upon Annabelle, a fighter within the pack, and he felt something in the pit of his stomach, much like butterflies fluttering inside of him. He had never experienced the feeling before, but it made him uneasy. His gaze followed her as she walked towards them, his eyes following her large figure, perfect for a fighter. Her white coat caught the light so beautifully. He coughed, clearing the thought from his head.

As she came closer to the group,Faolan became more and more nervous, unsure as to why the fighter made him feel this way. He scooted over, to make room beside him for her to sit. He could feel her tail brush against him, feeling his cheeks heat up, his attention turned to the rabbit by the alpha's paws. His tail wagged slowly on the ground behind him, his body slowly relaxing."Good morning to you,Annabelle,"He replied to her, his gaze shifting to the alpha before falling back to her. "That's uh… A nice rabbit, Faolan" He heard her say,his body beginning to shake as he tried not to laugh, he took a few short breathes before speaking "Why thank you Annabelle, if i had know you would be awake i would have hunted for the pack"He said, his gaze converting back to the rabbit.

Faolan glanced at Annabelle, for some reason he didn't feel the urge to keep quiet, like he always was. He sighed, he didn't understand why ever time he looked at her his heart would skip a beat, it seemed foolish to the brute, the word love, meant so little to him but yet, maybe it could be? He sighed to himself under his breath, his ears flicking as he sniffed the air, hoping to get out of the situation he felt he needed to leave, not catching the scent of any prey near by he decided to stay for a while, to see if anything interesting would happen.

The lithe, gray female shifted slightly, about to reply once more, but out of the corner of her eye she spotted movement. Flicking her green eyes over to look at her Alpha, she just mentally shrugged at his sleek, brown coat. What mattered was the job at paw, not looks, but Rain didn't dare say it out loud. Admiring the golden rays, as she sun peeked slightly through the gray blanket of clouds above, she replied coolly, wondering why he ignored her in the beginning, was there something wrong? "Good morning...How are you?"

Dipping her head in respect, Rain knew he was Alpha, but didn't like the way he rose his tail with such dominance, so she didn't tuck her own, but kept it level. Not higher then his, but not lower then it should be. She narrowed her eyes, with a slight frown, hesitant if she should go any farther, before sighing, and giving in, a little indecisive at first, before lowering her tail. "Sorry, Alpha."

She ignored the way he stood tall, and proudly, and instead questioned him, not knowing if that was a good choice. "I'm sorry, Alpha but we really better get going. We haven't patrolled the borders since yesterday, and want to get the job done." Narrowing her eyes, Rain continued. "Unless...You have some problem with that?"

I blinked, furrowing my brow for a moment. I hadn't expected that answer and I wasn't sure how to correctly respond to it. Shaking myself slightly, I simply let out a halfhearted murmur, "Of course, of course. A wonderful day for them, not for us." Looking to the ground for a moment swishing my tail, I was unsure of how to continue. I raised my head again, my distaste of the situation clear.

"You are a fighter, are you not? Are you out hunting?" I took in a whiff of the air and with a annoyance, I detected a slight scent of prey. I would have enjoyed saying that there was no prey, and for one, that made it a bad day for us. A chilly wind ran over my pelt, though it didn't reach my skin. My pelt remained too thick for the chills to pretty much ever reach me. It would become winter soon, and that means it would only get colder from here. Won't the chill be great for us? Just a couple of dead pups, nothing dramatic.

As I waited for the wolf's response, I pondered the idea that that question would get me in a group hunt. Not pleased with this idea, I ruffled my pelt slightly before laying it flat. Most wolves disliked the idea that I thought there was no value in life. Actually, they more disliked that I was a complete pessimist and was generally not cheerful at all.

For this reason, I generally didn't get along with other wolves. I did hold the rank of Delta, so they were respectful to my views... But you could tell they didn't enjoy them. This led to tension, and tensions led to failed hunts. So I generally hunted alone, which suited me fine anyway. I would catch several small pieces of prey and return home. Why I have to hunt for others that aren't myself is beyond me. If the world is so wonderful, couldn't they just summon a piece of prey to eat? Other wolves are quite a nuisance, with all their problems I have to deal with. Letting out a small huff, I turn my gaze back to the other brute.

"Of course, of course. A wonderful day for them, not for us." Eli blinked, and looked at him inquisitively. He didn't particularly like this brute, but didn't really have much of a choice, really. Slightly bored, Eli replied with a slight shake of his rusty brown coat, and loud murmur. "By 'them' you mean the other packs, Do you not?" Looking to the ground for a moment, He already knew the answer, but just wanted to get on his nerves a little.

"You are a fighter, are you not? Are you out hunting?" There was a hint of annoyance in the other brute's tone, making Eli want to clench his muscles in anger. "No, but it wouldn't hurt to try..!" He murmured, smelling the faint scent of Moose, on the wind. Feeling slightly irritated that Crow forgot his rank, Eli just glared at him, sweeping his long, bushy brown tail along the snowy ground, with a frown. A chilly wind ran over their pelts, but wasn't able to penetrate through their thick, winter coats.

TRIGGER
    ................fighter
    ...........river pack

    ...Avery; Horatio

Trigger cursed his silly questions, wondering why he had to seem so awkward and unable to communicate with the other wolves. He thought of the way Alphas could effortlessly command their subordinates and keep the wolves in line, and he couldn't even talk coherently to the she-wolf who was his partner in fighting for the pack. Ava's response that the hunters had not brought any game of late reminded him that he was hungry, and his stomach rumbled as he yawned, hungry for meat. He would have loved a kill that brought them deer or elk, but their proximity to the river and swimming skills often left him eating fish. Still, he was hungry enough that slippery scales were starting to sound good. If only the plentiful game of spring would come early this year, he mused.

As he was pondering what else he could say to Ava to fix his embarrassing questions, Horatio appeared with two fish held precariously in his jaws. The hunter dropped them, offering them to his pack mates. "Good morning! Glad to see you're up. I brought you some breakfast," he said to Ava before inclining his head to Trigger and saying, "There's one there for you too, if you want it. I know everyone is pretty sick of fish by now, but it's better than nothing I suppose." Trigger sat up, reaching forward with his muzzle and pulling the catch towards him with his teeth.

"Thank you," he said to Horatio, though his reply was slightly garbled as he crunched on the fish with little regard for table manners--such things didn't matter to a wolf as far as he was concerned. The fish was gone in only a few bites and Trigger licked his chops, though he was still hungry. A large wolf such as himself could not be sustained on one fish. He gazed out towards the water, wondering where his other pack mates were. He didn't hear any splashing, but he knew they could be farther along the river than his hearing reached or just in the trees rather than the water.

He turned back to his companions and said, "We need more game so we're ready for winter." He scratched his belly, as if it agreed with his observation. He considered that the whole pack might go on a hunt, but didn't want to voice any ideas--it wasn't his place to make those kind of suggestions.

աʀɛռ #2---alphaess of evergreens pack---mated to Raiko, sister of Eira and Adin---tags; kinumyth, eira, raven
      _________________________________________________________________________________________________
It was only natural that try to escape all she may, she would be stopped. For crying out loud, all she wanted to was to leave camp to get herself some water. Why was her presence always necessary, even for the most trivial foolish things? It was like wolves assumed that just because she led them, she had some magical solution for every issue or demand. When Kinumyth's voice rang out calling for her, she was almost tempted to push her face into the dirt. But no, she had to do the respectful, courteous thing she had been taught, and listen to him. She took a deep breath, before letting the air escape back out through her maw. With a more level headed approach to things, she turned, giving her beta a smile.
"Good morning to you as well, Kinumyth," her tone respectful as she spoke. Although her sister warned her against the beta, Wren had never been given cause for alarm personally. If Kinumyth wanted to try to run the pack, she was not going to stand in his way. Now, if he was to try to take away her birthright by usurping her, that would have been an entirely different matter. She doubted that would happen though, as he was also her good father as well as her beta. She had been mated to his son in an agreement worked out by her parents and Kinumyth shortly after she was born. Something about cementing her roll in the pack and making sure she had strong backing when she eventually took control. Eira had not been as approving to their families plans, Wren faintly remembered.
Turning back to Kinumyth, she really had to resist the urge to roll her eyes at him. "Well, I've noticed that there has been less sunny days," she said gently. He was an older wolf, she knew that. However, despite her young age, she was also not a total and complete idiot. The fact that the snow would now stick and the ground would freeze harder was not lost on her, as some may believe. A cold raindrop fell on her ear, sending a shiver down her spine. Looking up at the sky, she noted just how threatening it was getting. The frigid air mixed with precipitation could only mean a few things, and one of them was snow. The Silver Bow wolves were no strangers to it, and they lived in anticipation for its eventual coming. Because when the snow hit the valley, it held no mercy.
If the elk were returning to the valley, that meant winter was coming, swift and hard. The beasts were suited to cold weather, but would come down from northern areas over the mountain pass next to the great stone dam. The deer would move farther south, to save their thinner hides. "If we are going to hunt, we need to do it now. It make be our last chance for a while." Finally looking down from the sky above, she focused her yellow eyes to look around. "We need the pack. And we need my sister. She will run point, as she is stronger than the hunters" the fae said. "You can stay farther behind and figure out our best direction. I wouldn't want you to strain yourself with this chill."
Seeming to here them talking, the huntress Raven came padding over as well. Nodding a greeting to her, as was only polite Wren reasoned, she looked back at Kinumyth. "Won't be that hard to gather everyone, see! Raven is already set to go!" Smiling at the huntress, she nodded her head to her in thanks. "I will be back in a few moments, I'll go fetch Eira."
She turned to head towards the stream, calling over her shoulder at Kinumyth, "get the rest of the pack ready!" Without waiting for response, she picked up her pace, running away. She should be ashamed by her haste to get away from those responsibilities, but she was determined to get to the stream today. Eira could be found after she got a drink, as it would take time to rally the pack at all. However, Wren would luck out this go around. Eira and the drink would be found at the same time, she noted as she scented her sibling on the air. As she slowed down, approaching the stream, she called out. "Eira!?"

ƅɾєєȥє #13---fighter of foothills pack---crushing on Adin---tags; adin, rain storm
      ___________________________________________________________________
She was not surprised when a few rain droplets splashed onto her coat. The only reason she noted them was due to the fact that they were so frigid in temperature. Shaking them off her reddish hued coat, she glanced at the threatening sky. A little rain never killed anyone, so she did not think much of the drops splashing to the earth around her. Her hare still lay at her paws, the bleeding long slowing as it began to freeze from the lack of warmth radiating in it. The earth around it was stained red, evidence of the loss of life that occurred there. Hearing pawsteps approaching, she looked up from her quarry and instead directly at Rain Storm. Resisting the urge to snort at the fae, she instead gave her a half nod in greeting. Although the both of them where usually quiet, there was a difference between them in Breeze's eyes. She was functional quiet, mysterious quiet, a beautiful quiet. Rain was not. She was a brooding quiet that made her unapproachable and honestly quite annoying in the red hued fae's eyes.
Perhaps it was Breeze's hatred of outsiders that made her have a certain distaste for all of those that had foreign blood to her did not belong in the Silver Bow valley. They were not of the right material to survive in such a harsh world dictated by even harsher wolves. It was eat or be eaten, come out on top or be destined to the bottom. Breeze was too smart to ever be delegated to an entire life of living below those she considered inferior. She would be on top one day. Speak of the devil and he shall appear, so she was not surprised when Adin joined their little soiree. Naturally he was without his loyal beta, who seemed to have lost his attentions and affections. Breeze saw through that facade, she knew their alpha. He needed someone as strong as him by his side. Robyn was not even close to being on his level.
As he addressed her, singling her out, Breeze couldn't help the smug grin that flitted to her face. Deepening in her bow, she payed Adin the proper respect he was deserved. After all, he was their leader. "Good morning to you as well sir. I hope you slept well, as the weather seems to be worsening," she noted as she raised her head back up. Breeze was a very respectful wolf. It was quirky, how one minute she could plot a wolf's downfall, but if they were of higher rank than her, she could still give them their due diligence. She had met the traitor Maverick before, and still bowed at his feet, as was proper.
Before she could open her mouth to give him a status report of her morning, Rain interrupted her with that rude maw. She rolled her eyes heavily as she looked at the fae, her disrespect petty. "Rain, perhaps if I could speak?" she said in a tone that held gentleness, but was backed with steel. Looking back to Adin, she lowered her head a little as she addressed him. "I have already walked most of the border. There is only a small section left that is not of much concern. As well, the elk have re-entered the valley." Now, with that familiar mischevious glint to her eyes, she looked at the alpha. With an innocent voice, she asked him kindly. "And where is your mate? I expect she already gave you such a report, and I apologize for my repetitive one."

мανєяιcк #21---alpha of plains pack---crushing on Aurora---tags; aurora, faolan, annabelle
      ____________________________________________________________________________
Due to the fact that he had appointed her beta himself, he supposed he shouldn't have been surprised when Aurora padded over. Internally, he chided himself for trying to distance them so much, but she did not need to deal with both her problems and his. Their priority was the pack, and it should stay that way. At the same time, there was no reason for Maverick to feel trapped when she came over. Very easily, he could have sent her on some duty that would be within her job. However, her presence was a comfort to him, even if she did not know. Or would ever know it.
"Good morning to you as well Aurora," he said with a smile and a nod of his head. He was watching the pack awake in its own good time, a past time of his. "I worry about the chill coming early this year. The elk have already entered the valley, it can only mean winter is drawing near though. It has been colder than normal though, which is odd. Hopefully that won't cause the river to freeze past what we can punch through." When he was but a pup, that had happened. The river froze solid. He remembered his father fretting because the water behind the great wall must have frozen as well. One could hear it rubbing against the stone structure all through the valley. It had been very unnerving, the little he remembered from his puphood. The cracking ice had not been a risk since then, but another cold season could spell disaster.
His thought process was cut off when Faolan appeared, laying a rabbit down in front of himself and Aurora. Looking at it with appreciation, he nodded at Faolan so he knew how happy he was. "A good hunt, Faolan, for a lone wolf. I am sure once the other hunters join us, we could try to find out what the elk herds are up to." He made a mental note to send Eiyota out scouting when the wolf showed his face. He wanted him to start figuring out exactly where the herds were starting to settle so that Maverick knew what packs they would be bumping into during a hunt. Most packs he had no problem working with, teaming up to share a kill. One elk was plenty for a few wolves, and the more wolves allowed bigger kills to happen. It was a good system, one that the packs were not strangers too.
A new voice alerted him to another one of his pack members joining them. "Good morning to you as well, Annabelle." He resisted the urge to chuckle and her compliment of Faolan's kill. There was something there, he could see it. But perhaps he should not be commenting on anything, even eternally, when he was an equally as confused wolf. "There was a small herd of deer on the plain last I scented. Probably the last for this season. Shall we try to take one for ourselves? Our last summer feed?" he said, addressing those who sat with him.

Eɪʀᴀ - Evergreens Pack - Female - No Crush - #14
The cold breeze accompanied by the freezing rain was giving a slight discomfort to Eira.Although she had already grown her winter coat, she was not liking the thought of less prey and wolves falling ill.Winter proved to be the hardest season where packs compete to get their share of prey.Talking about prey, most of them would of been fattening up and getting ready for their deep sleep.Leaving only a few species able to thrive in the cold season for the wolves. If they were able to catch the plump soon to hibernate animals, they could somewhat still feed most of the wolves.
The large female decided to take a run to the stream, keeping her muscles strong as well as heating up her body with the short exercise.Strong hind legs propelled her forward as she weaved among the bare bushes and trees, their last leaves falling to the ground. Her nose began to frost slightly at the cold as she ignored the small pitter-patter of the light rain on her back.Paws sunk into the forest ground with each step she took. She was beginning to get rather annoyed at the cold biting on her fur.Her eyes squinted as she managed to see the glistening half frozen stream with slight running water. She slowed herself, panting heavily with her tongue out.
Eira began padding towards the water' sedge and lowered to a crouch as she lapped the freezing cold water. She ignored the fact that it was freezing and with ever gulp comes the refreshing feeling of the cold water traveling down her gullet. She kept her senses alert less there were any threats around her, tail wagged slowly and eyes watching every slight movement. Her nose began to pick up a familiar scent and her ears perked as she stood to her full height. Her amber eyes scanned the forest behind her.A call of her name brought a pleasant smile on the female's mouth. It was her sister.
"Wren?!"she called back out.She was wondering where her sister was and now she had her answer. The older wolf managed to catch sight of her sister's grey and white fur among the trees.A happy wag of her tail was seen as her eyes began to twinkled slightly at the sight of her sister, alpha of the Evergreens Pack. She began to think of possibilities on what she would ask her to do next perhaps a hunt? They would certainly need to restock on their prey so that wolves could be fed.She herself was getting slightly hungry and she longe to sink her teeth into the juicy flesh of prey.

S P A C EAs always, Horatio was pleased when the Fighters seemed grateful for his offerings, even if they didn't say much about it. While Trigger ate, he settled himself down next to Avery, who still seemed undecided as to wether she was going to eat here or find someplace else to go, or so he assumed, as he knew she liked her privacy even when eating something so simple as a fish. Though the temptation was there to huddle in close to her warmth and ease the chill that still clung to his damp coat, he resisted and gave her space. Not that he feared she would reject his affections or anything, he simply wanted to give her a chance to eat in peace. Ava had always been the independent type and while he admired that in her, he also knew that his tendency to dote on his mate embarrassed her, especially when it was in front of the other fighters.
S P A C EFor awhile, there was a silence between the three wolves, and Horatio bent his neck around to groom the fur along his back and chest. The coarse fur sprung back against his tongue, easily letting go of what moisture was still there and leaving him looking a bit more fluffy than when he had first arrived. However, it seemed as though his efforts would all be for naught, as a chill ran began to fall. At first, he hardly noticed the tiny drops as they fell slowly, one by one into the earth around him, that is, until one of the rascals managed to fall and plunk him right between his eyes. Startled, he shook his head and pawed at his muzzle for a moment before giving up with a defeated sounding sigh.
S P A C EBy this time, Trigger had finished his fish and was looking out over the water, and for awhile, Horatio did the same. The patter of rain was barely audible over the quiet burble of the ever moving river, but his ears eagerly sought it out. Where as some would despise the cold rain the fell, he had no quarrel with it, and for awhile he lay still, just watching as the drops disrupted the surface of the river, their tiny rings of ripples fighting against the current as the tumultuous surface tried to push them downstream.
S P A C ETrigger's voice brought Horatio back to himself, and he blinked, turning his attention to the fighter. What he said made perfect sense of course, and he nodded in reply. "Of course, though the end of the season is working against us now. The deer have moved to the far end of the valley, seeking lowlands, and the elk still spend much time on the mountain," he said, glancing back towards Avery for a moment. "Perhaps this weather will do us a favor and push them down into the valley today, and we can have something a bit larger for dinner," he finished, smiling a bit at the end. Though hunting such large game would be a job for the whole pack, the prospect brightened his day. Any day there was a hunt was a good day in his opinion.

S P A C EAnnabelle smiled a bit as the others in the small gathering returned her salutations, the expression broadening a bit when Faolan accepted her half-botched complement. The expression was not out of character for the golden wolf, as Ellie smiled easily and frequently, but the lightness that fluttered in her chest when speaking with the hunter was something she had yet to conquer. Swallowing to try and push the sensation down, it was a moment before she answered him, unconsciously wrapping her tail around her heels, "Ah, that's sweet of you Faolan..." She said, fully intending to say more, but what words there might have been flew out of her head like the geese in the valley had done a month ago. Now feeling rather sheepish, Ellie turned her attention to Maverick, ironically feeling much more comfortable looking at the Alpha than the Hunter next to her.
S P A C EOverhead, the heavy clouds seemed to become overburdened by the moisture they carried, and a few scattered drops began to fall around them, confirming what she had thought earlier: the weather was about to change, and Ellie's excitement was renewed. Wether it would simply continue to rain or if it would soon turn to snow was still yet to be seen, but one thing was for sure, the rain was danged cold. Though he thick fur shed most of it, what little water did make it through sent a chill down her spine and she shivered in surprise. Hopefully it didn't change from rain to snow too quickly, as it would make her long fur freeze on the ends, a very inconvenient and cumbersome predicament.
S P A C EContinuing what seemed to be their conversation from earlier, Maverick spoke of organizing a hunt to track down some of the deer that still lingered in the valley. This sounded like a grand idea to Ellie, and she quickly nodded, glancing quickly in Faolan's direction before looking back to the Alpha, "Oh yes, I think that is splendid idea! We could all do with a nice warm meal," she replied happily.
S P A C EDue to her size and upbringing, Ellie was not the best hunter, a weakness that she had begrudgingly learned to accept over the years. However, she was always eager to help the pack in any way she could, even if it meant just running along breathlessly behind the hunters until they managed to trip something up so that she could hold it down long enough to end it. Besides which, she knew of someone who was a fine hunter, and the prospect of going out with him, even if it was with the rest of the pack, was enough to brighten her whole week, let alone just the day. If she was going to be stuck running behind anyone, she hoped it was him. She had no issue looking at his tail for a few miles.
