There has yet to be a 'theme' for staff pups as a whole, it's likely just coincidence and people wanting to see the connections in them being inspired by fairy tales.
If the entire litter is based off fables that would be pretty lame. The best thing about Staff litters is how vastly different they all are. Themes and patterns are for monthlies, not the biggest litter of the year. :/

I don't think they are all themed the same. At least, I hope they are not. It would absolutely ruin it. My favorite thing is how different all the outcomes are based on each individual's style. :(

Bel has already said that hers isn't fantasy themed, so you probably don't have to worry, but I think it'd be cute to have a theme for once :)
That way, every artist can still express themselves, but we get to have fun figuring out the pup's backstory! c:

Ok, I'm sorry if this has been said before but I think the theme is fairy tales! Or Disney, which ever.
So far I;ve figures out;

Saikio; Pinocchio
"I was aiming for a puppet theme, but ended up looking nothing like a puppet."
Pinocchio starts of as a wooden puppet and ends up as a real boy.

bel racat; Dumbo (I think. Im not so sure about this one)
"My dog was inspired by animals!"
Well, dumbo is both an animal and the whole movie is based around animal and circus animals.
"My dog may want to fly a little..."
In the ned Dumbo learns to fly because of his giant ears.

Metallic Dragon; Cinderella
This one has pretty much been explained all morning, so if you read back you'll see why.
I also think this pet will change completely when its full grown, so that we get thrown off slightly.

Verdana; Dorothy (I think. Im not so sure about this one)
"My dog uses ALL the colours (some more than others). It also has an unusual accessory."
This is the only one I could think of that fits, as Dorothy goes from the black and white of Kansas to the rainbow colours of Oz. The accessory could be anything though.. It could be Toto, A bucket of water or the ruby slippers...


Sleeping Beauty
The closed eyes and the roses..


Jack and the beanstalk
It started as a small sproat.. And then it grew up...


Maleficent
Its something about the eyes.


The Little Mermaid
The eye colour for starters and then of cause the scale-like pattern.


Peter Pan
Second star to the right and straight on till morning.


The wolf
Wolf ears, ripped clothing.. Im not so sure at this point xD

Thats all I've got so far. But, Im really hoping I'm on the right track...

Okay, I love this theory. Maybe it is possible that they're mixing it up this year and doing a fairy tale theme along with the colors?

Guys, the point of the staff litter is that there is no theme besides the colors. Bel racat has specifically said that there isn't a fairytale theme.

Yeah, plus...a theme would be kinda unfair for those who aren't artistically talented, you know? I mean, sure there's been tons of staff pets with awesome patterns and shading and line-edits, but...every year there's also been at least one pup that was much more simple: few colors, basic design; sort of a minimalist approach. What would some staff members do if they had to conform to a theme despite lacking the artistic ability to do more than a simple pup?

Since the first staff litter in 2009, there has been no theme used. The only thing that has been used is a colour scheme and I've loved each one they've chosen. Two that I miss seeing make their pets are Shima Luan and Malk. This may be the first year I've not seen Coalchaser not make one.
