"I said 'he'? Oh I thought I said... uh..." He tried to think of something better to say but couldn't. "So do you like cats?" He was sweating slightly.

Rail backed away just a little when Mirajane approached him, his body still afraid despite everything. When he spoke, he kept his voice low so that only those close enough could hear him. "I know this is sudden, but I've admired you for a long time. Back when I was just starting out as a mage, it amazed me how you could be so bold and unafraid. Even after......." Rail stopped talking for a second, skirting around mentioning the incident that had changed Mirajane. "Even after you had to deal with so much pain, you continued to walk forward in life. You were always as beautiful in character as you were in appearance. What I wanted to say is that I l........" Rail stopped, afraid to continue. What if she rejected him? What if she laughed at him? Rail was beginning to sweat, feeling like the eyes of the entire guild were focused on him. Then, his words to Fielo came to forefront of his mind. "Do you really want to go through the rest of your life knowing that you never told them how you feel? I know the woman I love won't accept who I've become, but I'm willing to tell Mira-san despite knowing how she'll react." Was he really going to go back on what he said? Would he really let himself live with such a heavy burden. Screwing together all his courage, Rail swiftly blurted out exactly what he had to say. "I LOVE YOU, MIRAJANE!" If their eyes weren't on him before, surely the guild must be looking at him now.

She sighed and looked at her feet not answering question and focusing on the ground.

Mirajane frowned. "I..." She spoke. "I'm sorry..." she continued, "I don't want to embarrass you... but I... don't love you back..." she said. "I'm sorry... Rail" Mira looked down.

Jason didn't hear her answer, so he ignored he'd ever said that. Dang... with human ears it's so much harder to hear... he thought.

"Here's the library.." Lia said looking at it. She knocked on the door "Hello?" She asked.

Hiriko flew off to Mt. Hakobe and looked around the ice wasteland. He heard a vulcan and with a quick kick it was down. He padded on with Sylvi

Despite the rejection, Rail managed to put a smile on his face, closing his eyes to prevent tears from falling as long as he could. "That's okay. I knew you wouldn't return my feelings, but at least I was able to make mine known." One chapter in Rail's life had closed, but another had begun. Gone were the days of his fear, but his feelings would always stay the same. All he could hope was that Mirajane found somebody that was good for her, someone better than he was. Mirajane couldn't return his feelings, not knowing that Rail was unlikely to leave his womanizing habits behind. Rail was free, and he felt much lighter. Yet as he turned away and headed back towards his little corner, Rail could not stop the tears from flowing unbidden. He could only keep his eyes shut.

Jason nodded as his fox ears and tail started to return. He was out of breath, but gaining energy back quickly. The pain had stopped. It seemed the place had a protective spell on it where no spirits could enter.

Mirajane walked back to the bar.
Liarah looked at Rail in a surprised way.
Miro was too busy thinking to realize Rail's confession.
*The whole guild except Miro and the people who were on jobs were yelling and screaming*

Though his eyes were red from the tears he had shed, Rail was soon back to his usual self enough to at least find the din unbearable in his current state. Not that it showed of course, what with his poker face hiding his emotions again. Seriously, was it that shocking for people to know Rail was capable of love? Was it that shocking to learn he had always loved Mirajane? Why did they think he had never tried to flirt with her?

Liarah blinked, got up, and then walked over to rail. she smiled slightly.

Rail turned his face towards the wall, not wanting Liarah to see his reddened eyes. "What do you want? Come to laugh at me for being rejected in front of so many people? Don't bother. I already feel terrible for putting Mira-chan through that. I should just be thankful Elfman wasn't there to bust my chops." Okay, so Rail wasn't fully over the rejection, but he doubted there was anyone in the world who would be able to take that and be back to normal in minutes.
