Lady Okimi (center), the princess of Kahren travels through other countries in the hopes to find, battle and purge an evil spirit that is plaguing other countries. It is believed that only those of royal blood have the power to get rid of these spirits. While customary for the leader of Kahren to do such an act when such a spirit appears as no other country has been willing to sacrifice their ruler, this one has been working as the real Lady Okimi's double for nearly twenty years.
She had successfully stopped one such spirit ten years ago, nearly losing her life due to not being of royal blood, but the peace it brought seemed like it would last forever.
Shensu (right) is Okimi's bodyguard. He ensures that her secret stays safe. For Shensu is not a bodyguard in the traditional sense, but an assassin hired to kill Okimi if she strays from her duty or does anything that might betray the real Okimi. Because he has been working with Okimi for a number of years, he is able to act just as a bodyguard should and only Okimi is the wiser.
Prince Haru (left) is enthralled by Okimi and is constantly giving her advances. She stays at his palace frequently as it is the hub of most major roads, so is the natural choice to rest before moving on. Over time Okimi falls for Prince Haru (left) and his clumsy attempts to win her heart. This does not sit well with her bodyguard, who has to remind her that not only is she not a real princess (and therefore has no claim to Haru), but her duty comes first and foremost.
Okimi is torn between this long standing duty and the opportunity to find happiness for herself- something she has not been allowed to have for a very long time. Since there is a strong possibility that she will not survive the encounter with the spirit this time, she toys with the idea of confiding in Prince Haru. Twenty years is a long time to carry the burden of a secret identity and wearing a false mask. Would he still love her after he knows she is not the real Okimi? Would he be able to keep such a thing safe?
